video dxgkrnl fatal_error scanning for hardware changes

View attachment 61173

Hello, & thanks in advance for your insights.

So i made the rookie mistake of using a generic driver updater software which somehow after some updates rendered half my usb ports unusable for anything but charging (which i temporarily solved by disabling 3.0 support in the uefi/bios), bugged my ethernet connection (rollbacked driver)...

Alas, as title said, now everytime i try to use the "scan for hardware changes" feat. in device manager, i'm welcomed by a video dxgkrnl fatal_error bsod.... it says it'll restart after collecting informations about the error, doesnt... so i'm forced to hard reboot.

It also occurred when i tried to install Hisuite, Huawei's android "smart device manager" for my phone, same bsod crash on the computer when the software was installing the driver.

Looking forward for some help, maybe wisdom, & ofc answering any furter questions in the extent of my limited computer knowledge :).
Best regards.

You said you started to encounter these problems after several driver updates?
dumps as well as DirectX message are suggesting about bad drivers, so rolling back everything you updated should work.

You can visit Asus website to download original drivers for your make and model, including Nvidia driver if available.
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download

Report results when done.

edit:
Your system has a history of driver updates, so you can just roll back every driver you updated until system becomes stable.

oO Admit you fixed my computer magically at a distance !
...All i did after your simple advice was a clean install old nvidia drivers from asus website (i'm antagonizing like that ;) and it worked ! then re-clean install (which asked for a restart) the most recent ones & all works alright, i can even use hisuite now... (& play gtaV) no overlapping of whatever :)

@ edit : i had did that previously... but still had problems, i feel dumb for not trying a simple reinstall of video drivers when error was stating "video fatal error" lol, i was kneedeep into the usb issues... so ... well all is now well (apart from having my usb 3 disabled but it's a story for when i actually have a use for them &/or asus doesn't charge for a driver-restoration disc no more ...that or i grow "unlazy" enough to backup my data (but then i would need an usb 3 external disk XD)

Anyway Many Thanks , & enough ramblings... just to all the post-trawlers out there, i strongly advise against using those drivers updater software, unless you really know what you're doing. Don't get caught in a moment of weakness for almost the same thing already happened to me like 10 years ago back on xp. Not much new under the sun as they used to say... or was it... nah i'm out
