Hello everyone,

Today I got a random BSOD with the error code KERNEL_IN_PAGE_ERROR. I wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary while the BSOD occured (browsing the web while voice-chatting on Skype). I have published a Speccy snapshot and did a computer analysis with your analysis programme.

http://speccy.piriform.com/results/kvZYhl3qKQJw7eZeRGNrL2Q

The analysis .zip is in the attachments.

BSODs haven't occured on my PC for a long time and I have no idea why this one happened, I hope you could help me out.

Cheers.

Hi Rinn ^_^,

I am really sorry for the delayed response :( . There are not many analysts around and hence the delay. Do you still require help with this problem? If yes, then kindly respond to this thread and I would be notified via email about your reply. I will also try my best to reply within 48 hours.

Hi,

Yes, I still require help with this problem. Perhaps the stability issues are being caused by a few specific things, but I am not good at reading crash dump logs.

Hi,
Usually we would blame Avast antivirus when it's driver get caught several times, but in this case we have only one dump file, and since the type of error is somewhat self explanatory blaming Avast directly would be silly, also on the stack avast driver is far away from bugcheck exception.

Diagnostics should start with hard drive, checking for possible errors or bad blocks.

Code:
[B]KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR (7a)[/B]
The requested page of kernel data could not be read in.
Typically caused by a bad block in the paging file or disk controller error.

[COLOR=#ff0000]Memory Manager detected corruption of a pagefile page while performing an in-page operation.
The data read from storage does not match the original data written.
This indicates the data was corrupted by the storage stack, or device hardware.[/COLOR]

Arguments:
Arg1: ffffc001f5dd0e68, lock type that was held (value 1,2,3, or PTE address)
Arg2: ffffffffc000003f, [COLOR=#ff0000]error status {Bad CRC} [/COLOR] [COLOR=#ff0000]A cyclic redundancy check (CRC) checksum error occurred.[/COLOR]
Arg3: 00000002042fc880, current process (virtual address for lock type 3, or PTE)
Arg4: fffff800ce1dd000, virtual address that could not be in-paged (or PTE contents if arg1 is a PTE address)

To check if something is wrong with HDD follow these steps:
Check your hard disk for errors

If you decide to remove Avast following tool might help:

In addition to above memory test can also be performed:

Thanks for helping!

To get into more details as you've said, I scanned my HDDs and memory. Both didn't gave any errors.
I am not planning to remove avast! however. Windows Defender failed a few times on me and avast! is the only one that truly has blocked out some virusses.

Maybe it's an important detail: A few weeks ago I decided to do sfc /scannow in the Command Prompt and it detected corruptions in system files that could not be repaired automatically.
I also have re-installed Windows 8 a few times but the instability and issues remain somehow. Could these corrupted files also be the reason that avast! triggered a BSOD?

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Maybe I am not re-installing Windows the right way, too. Any ideas on that? I'm sorry if this is off-topic.

Thanks for the help!
A friend of mine helped me reading some other dumps too and it turned out that some of my drivers were outdated.
I updated these drivers and repaired the files with your command.
Now I will just wait to see how things turn out, and otherwise I will do a clean install as you have linked in your reply.

Cheers.
