Solved BSOD when shutting down or restarting PC, 0x9F

Hello everyone!

I have an ASUS S550CM that has been having problems for some months now. Everytime I shut down or restart it I get treated with a DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE. Additionally, my USB-devices are not recognized, and only works if they are plugged in before startup.

I've tried debugging the crashes myself with BlueScreenView and WinDbg but I can't seem to get my head around it.

Thank you for any help you can provide! :)

Hi Poppy & welcome to the forums ^_^,

I have analysed your dump files and below has been provided an analysis of the same for informative purposes :-

DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (9f)
A driver has failed to complete a power IRP within a specific time.
Code:
Arguments:
Arg1: 00000000000000[COLOR=#FF0000][B][U]04,[/U][/B][/COLOR] The power transition timed out waiting to synchronize with the Pnp
 subsystem.
Arg2: 000000000000012c, Timeout in seconds.
Arg3: ffffe00125fbf040, The thread currently holding on to the Pnp lock.
Arg4: ffffd00068f73980, nt!TRIAGE_9F_PNP on Win7 and higher
So, it seems you are experiencing the Driver_Power_State_Failure (Like you said :p ). But, sadly the minidump file does not contain enough information for me to analyse since the first parameter/argument is 4.
I would need a kernel dump to obtain the information. Kindly follow the below guide on how to generate a kernel dump file and upload it with your next post if you are still facing problems -
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/ff540128(v=vs.85).aspx

Once you get the Kernel Dump file, ZIP it up and upload it to a 3rd party file hoster like OneDrive, Mediafire etc.

Below is a list of 3rd party drivers present on your system -

Thank you very much! I've set my PC to generate Kernel Dumps, removed bloatware and Intel Rapid Storage. No crashes yet plus my USBs seem to work better!

I've got some questions about the drivers however;

Since iaStorA.sys is a part of IRS, is it necessary to update it since I've uninstalled it?
I'm also having some trouble with the Diskeeper/ExpressCache drivers (excsd.sys and excfs.sys), I can't find any useful downloads or information on the home page. Is there any way around this or should I just uninstall them instead?

Once again, thank you
:)

Hi Poppy ^_^,

I am glad to hear that. Are you still facing the problems? If yes, then kindly zip up and upload the Kernel Dump File. If not, then kindly mark this thread as solved ^_^.

No, you need not update the Intel Rapid Storage again. Sorry for the confusion.

Let me know how it goes ^_^
