Random BSOD errors BAD_POOL_HEADER, DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION

Over the past month I have been getting both DPC Watchdog Violation BSODs and Bad Pool Header BSODs. I think they are related in some way but I have no idea how. Both seem to happen at relatively random times, but I've notice that they happen more often when I'm playing Hearthstone or browsing Chrome. I've tried updated all of my drivers and I've run several memory and disk checks, but nothing has come up thus far. If you have any idea what's causing the BSODs please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Kindly follow the below steps -

  1. Kindly physically detach your DAC device till the time we are troubleshooting this problem. Recently, there was a case in which the driver involved with the DAC was causing problems.
  2. Also physically detach your Razer Mamba device as Razer device drivers are very well known to cause problems and I won't be surprised if that's the case in this situation as well.
  3. In case the problem is still not solved, kindly turn on Driver Verifier using this **GUIDE** and then re-run the Diagnostic Tool and upload a freshly generated ZIP file.

Let me know how it goes ^_^

Thank you so much for your reply! I do have a few questions though. First of all I'm not familiar with a DAC so I wouldn't know what to unplug. Second, did you want me to update all the drivers you linked? Lastly I turned on driver verifyer but all that seemed to do was cause a bunch of BSODs. I apologize if some of these questions are stupid, but I relatively new to this sort of thing.

Hi SlotheKing ^_^,

Please feel free to ask any questions. I would be more than happy to answer them for you :)

According to the MSINFO32 report present in your ZIP file, the DAC device is a C-Media USB Device which is attached to the computer. If I am correct, the device would look like a Pen Drive/Flash Drive.

Your drivers are not old. But, it is always a good practice to keep them updated. It results in a stable system (99% of the times) and security vulnerabilities are also patched.

Driver Verifier is not a tool which solves the problems but is a way to reach to the solution. Whenever the Driver Verifier finds a violation, it will cause a Blue Screen Of Death of the system. In most of the cases (If it is not hardware or some other incompatibility), it points to the driver causing the problem. There are lots of extra rules which the Driver Verifier enforces on the drivers and if it finds any violation, it crashes the whole system and writes it to the dump file.

Since you have already experienced the crashes, kindly re-run the Diagnostic Tool and upload a freshly generated ZIP file so that I can analyse the dump files and see what is going on.

Are you facing any crashes when Driver Verifier is turned off?

In case of any further questions, I would be glad to answer them :)

Hi BlueElvis,

I updated a couple of my drivers and things began to run smoothly again. Unfortunately, about 2 days later the BSODs started happening again. Same 2 (DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION and BAD_POOL_HEADER). I ran the diagnostic tool again, but I couldn't find the zip folder for the files (I tried twice, and both times they weren't in the location it said they were in). I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but the computer I am running on was put together by me. I'm pretty sure it's a software problem but just in case there's a possibility if something being wrong with one of my hardware components I thought I should let you know. Thank you again for your continued help with this issue.

Sincerely,
SloTheKing

P.S. One time a BSOD occurred while I was running a disk check directly after a previous BSOD .

Hi SloTheKing ^_^,

I still see Razer drivers in the dump files. Kindly also turn on Driver Verifier according to my previous post and then upload a freshly generated ZIP file as this one does not contain enough information :(

Let me know how it goes ^_^
