Solved BSOD While playing games

Hi,

I just recently built a gaming pc and I am having trouble with BSOD: WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR. The only time that these errors happen are when I am playing a taxing game like Far Cry 4 or Assassins Creed. It usually happens between 10 to 45 min of playing. I have updated all of my drivers including my Bios. I have also looked at my windows updates and noticed that there are a few that failed. I don't know if they are important but I just thought I would let you know. I'd be grateful for any help. I'm pretty sure those are my dump files below.

Thanks,
Justin

Hi Justin & welcome to the forums ^_^,

I have analysed your dump files and below has been provided an analysis of the same for informative purposes :-

WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR (124)
A fatal hardware error has occurred. Parameter 1 identifies the type of error source that reported the error. Parameter 2 holds the address of the
WHEA_ERROR_RECORD structure that describes the error condition.

So, let's check the parameter 2 of the dump file -

Kindly follow the below steps -

  1. Kindly remove any ASUS bloatware present on the system. If you are not able to find any software, please do a manual search in your system with the driver names highlighted in RED. Once you have found them, rename them to "ASIObak.sys" & "AiChargerbak.sys".
  2. Kindly perform the Prime95 test from this **GUIDE** and then report back if you find any errors and report back the temperatures before and during the Prime95 test.
  3. Kindly perform the Intel Burn test using this **GUIDE**. Please report back any errors and the temperatures before and during this test.
  4. If all the above fails, possibly the CPU needs to be replaced. But, before you replace the CPU, please perform the above steps and report back.

Let me know how it goes ^_^.

OK. I figured it out. I renamed the AiCharger.sys to AiCHargerbak.sys. When I did that it disappeared. I assuming it's supposed to. I also searched for the AsIO.sys and found it. I also found a ASIObak.sys as well. but I renamed the AsIO.sys to ASIObak.sys. When I did that it said that name was already taken obviously. So, it renamed it ASIObak[2].sys. I ran the Intel Burn Test for 8 rounds and it finished in roughly 136 seconds. Beginning temp of CPU was 38C. When it finished, it was at 99C. That's really hot as I only have the stock CPU fan. There was no errors. I ran the Prime95 test and the temps where the same. BUT I couldn't finish the Prime95 test because I don't want to run the risk of burning my CPU up if it can still be fixed, so I only ran it for around 6 minutes or so. So the actual test did't finish. Started to get nervous when I saw 99C. Some of the Cores got up do 100C but they didn't stay there. I hope I didn't mess anything up. :-/

I meant I figured out what the bloatware was. I'm pretty sure that the cache error is still there. I had to do a windows restore because the mouse and keyboard wouldn't turn on for windows. only for the bios.

Hi maniac2461 ^_^,

That's a lot of temperature or heat that is flowing from your CPU. I would suggest you to first reduce the temperature of the CPU. You could try aiming a table fan directly at the CPU and then trying to play the games. If even after aiming a table fan, you are getting the BSODs, I would suggest you to get the CPU replaced if it is still under warranty.

If it is not under warranty, then please make sure that you buy the CPU from a shop which accepts returns so that in case the CPU is not the problem (Extremely minute chance though), you could still get your money back.

Let me know how it goes ^_^

Hey maniac2461 ^_^,

I am not much of a hardware guy so I am not sure if you are suited with a liquid cooling or a different fan and thermal paste. But, do let me know how it goes.

Hi Maniac2461 ^_^,

Glad to hear that the problem has been solved. You won't believe about the number of cases here which are resolved by deleting the ASUS Bloatware.

Although I suggest you work out on the high temperatures as well so your system remains stable in the future ;)
