Solved Several different BSODs

Hello,

So far I've gotten 3 or 4 different kind of BSODs and several times.
One of them being "kmode_exception_not_handled" another being "driver_overran_stack_buffer" and the third and fourth I can't remember. The kmode_exception_not_handled is the most frequent one. I've only gotten the driver_overran_stack_buffer once.
Oh wait now I remember the third "page fault in nonpaged area" That one I've gotten quite some times too.

These usually occur when browsing youtube or playing games, that's about as much I know about when it occurs but since I usually watch youtube or play games it happens quite a lot.

What I've tried is sfc /scannow which came back with no integrity violation. I've tried memtest86+ which passed once and that took between an hour or two.

I must mention that I have my CPU overclocked, from 3.2 GHz to 4.0GHz however it's well enough cooled. The memory is supposed to be 10-10-10-27 2000MHz however I have 10-10-10-27 2009MHz

The setup I have now:
motherboard: Asus Sabertooth x58
CPU: Intel i7 970 @ 4.0GHz
GPU: Asus GTX 560ti DCII
PSU: 850W
RAM: Corsair 12GB 10-10-10-27 2000MHz @ 2009MHz

I've also tried using furmark or what that program is called, try see if it was my GPU freaking out but nothing happened.

I should also mention that I'm using the Windows 7 Beta drivers for my GPU: 301.24 since the beta drivers for Windows 8... well.. frames per second you know.

I would have checked the dump files myself but it seems like I can't download the skd to check them for Windows 8 so instead I post here. I'm interested in what it is causing the BSODs.

I think I attached the files correctly, it's what I got using the tool recommended "W8 File Collector"

Thanks,
SanyaIV

Hi and welcome,

I would have checked the dump files myself but it seems like I can't download the skd to check them for Windows 8 so instead I post here. I'm interested in what it is causing the BSODs.

With all due respect, you or any other non-expert would not have been able to deal with any of these crash dumps in any manner, but thumbs up for the enthusiasm.

Update Renesas USB 3.0 driver:

Code:
nusb3hub nusb3hub.sys Thu Apr 22 21:34:35 2010
nusb3xhc nusb3xhc.sys Thu Apr 22 21:34:36 2010 (4BD0F92C)

ASUS - Motherboards- ASUS SABERTOOTH X58

-----------------

Update ATK0110 driver by installing "ASUS PC ProbeII V1.04.88 Install Program for 32/64bit Windows XP & Windows Vista" from the same page as above:

Code:
ASACPI ASACPI.sys Sun Mar 27 22:30:36 2005 (42476C4C)

-----------------

Update Realtek 8110SC network driver:

Code:
Rt64win7 Rt64win7.sys Fri Jun 10 02:33:15 2011 (4DF1BAAB)

Realtek

---------------

Uninstall all ASUS motherboard utilities, not including the above first one:

Code:
AsUpIO AsUpIO.sys Sun Jul 05 22:21:38 2009 (4A515FB2)
AsIO AsIO.sys Thu Apr 22 07:18:03 2010 (4BD0306B)

----------------

Uninstall Comodo, reboot, then set Windows Firewall to Auto:

Code:
cmderd cmderd.sys Fri Mar 16 07:14:22 2012 (4F63208E)
cmdguard cmdguard.sys Tue Mar 06 13:44:47 2012 (4F565B1F)
cmdhlp cmdhlp.sys Tue Mar 06 13:50:12 2012 (4F565C64)

---------------

Finally, when successfully completing all of the above, go into bios settings and set Optimized Defaults then save. Then, install the latest bios from the first link and set Optimized Defaults again and save.

This will take away the overclock and you need it. Once the machine is stable and my work is done, feel free to reset any settings you want, when you know you're the only one to blame. :p

--------------

Have fun on 8 and enjoy the machine. :)

You did have a 0x124 stop error in there
which is slightly worrisome about hardware, but it's my belief that if you follow everything precisely as above, you will be in the clear. Please tell me how your machine is when done.

Hardware problem is VERY likely the overclock, which setting Optimized Defaults will take away. GPU is fine. No worries there.

You can install the ATK0110 driver using the device manager if necessary. Or even better yet if you don't know how, take the new driver ASACPI.sys from the extracted folder and simply copy it over the one at C:\Windows\System32\drivers then reboot.

Use the one in this folder of the zip:

ProbeII_V10488_XpVistaWin7.zip\ProbeII_V10488_XpVistaWin7\Acpi64\WIN7

------

About the bios: If you already have the latest then just go into bios settings and set Optimized Defaults then save. Done. Crashes gone.

Okay so I just updated the BIOS to the latest and I did those defaults, however I did set my RAM a little better since I'd rather not run 2000MHz RAM on 1333 MHz, and the clockrates were off too. It's still underclocked (1866MHz or 1899MHz, can't remember which)

If the ProbeII might have caused problems, couldn't one uninstall it completely? I doubt I'll need to USE it, however I don't know if the system can run without it.

No, ASACPI is an important power management driver. Please follow as shown for best results.

Your RAM is very likely intended to run at how Optimized Defaults set it. Please follow for best results. Otherwise, the machine will continue crashing.

If you'd like to be certain, please post a screenshot each of CPU-Z's SPD tab and Memory tab.

Whoa, last time I used CPU-Z on windows 8 it froze on just clicking the .exe then it did the same when trying to uninstall. But I'll do it. (Wait for pics)
And I'm fairly certain the RAM is supposed to be 2000MHz and 10-10-10-27 since I'm looking at the box for them right now and I specifically looked at them and bought them for those specs.

EDIT (PICS): I set them back at default at your request.

CPU-Z is now fixed in version 1.60.1

It is very common to have a box that says one thing and the product inside is different. Seen it dozens of times.

As per your edit with screenshots now - all is well as is right now but yes, you can set it to the settings on the far right of the SPD tab and it will be well. (Make sure to set 2T if doing so for Command Rate if you run as far right shows.)

JEDEC #4 is where it is meant to run though.

If you have problems, set it back to how you have it now. In any case, you now have all you need to know, so enjoy! :)

CPU-Z is now fixed in version 1.60.1

It is very common to have a box that says one thing and the product inside is different. Seen it dozens of times.
What if you bought a product marketed to be the product on the box? If you get anything else, that's false marketing or what it's called in English.

As per your edit with screenshots now - all is well as is right now but yes, you can set it to the settings on the far right of the SPD tab and it will be well.
Ah thank you so much for the help, I really appreciate it.
Will take some time to see if I get any more BSOD since it usually happens once every day or every other day (and sometimes more than 5 times a day)
