Merry Christmas!

I beg your help, as I get the "Page_Fault_In_Non_Paged_Area" BOSD from time to time.

The eventmanager says something about "Kernel 41" Error.

Below there is the log file. I created with the debugger tool you advised!

Best regards.

phila

EDIT: First steps I took to prevent the issue:

I performed the following repair routine
- Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth - Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
- Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Restart
- Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
- sfc /scannow

- I as well realized that my virtual RAM might be to small to small (4096) in relation to my 32GB RAM. So due to a small amount of space on my SSD I downgraded 16 GB RAM and in return set higer values for pagefile.sys (8192MB) and hyberfile.sys (12286MB).
(you`ll notice the change in comparisson to the log files I guess)

- I am acurrently also testing powercfg /h off

Here an Update as today the screen turned black (due to the proweconfig?) but was not to be turned on again. Analyting the memory.dmp with bluescreen view showed this (see below). Though I am not sore if this issues had someting to do with the energy settings?!

Only 91 Windows Updates installed. Most systems have 100 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

Don't worry about the specific number, it's just important that you have checked and installed any updates that were available (and didn't experience any errors).

There are no memory dumps in the uploaded files. Please do this:
Upload Dump Files:
NOTE: If using a disk cleaning utility, please stop using it while we are troubleshooting your issues.
Please go to C:\Windows\Minidump and zip up the contents of the folder. Then upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.
Left click on the first minidump file.
Hold down the "Shift" key and left click on the last minidump file.
Right click on the blue highlighted area and select "Send to"
Select "Compressed (zipped) folder" and note where the folder is saved.
Upload that .zip file with your next post.

If you have issues with "Access Denied" errors, try copying the files to your desktop and zipping them up from there. If it still won't let you zip them up, post back for further advice.

If you don't have anything in that folder, please check in C:\Windows for a file named MEMORY.DMP. If you find it, zip it up and upload it to a free file hosting service. Then post the link to it in your topic so that we can download it.

Also, search your entire hard drive for files ending in .dmp, .mdmp, and .hdmp. Zip up any that you find and upload them with your next post.

Then, follow the directions here to set your system for Minidumps (much smaller than the MEMORY.DMP file): Set MiniDumpMore info on dump file options here: Overview of memory dump file options for Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008 R2

You have 5 or more hard drives. Please explain this configuration as you're using a laptop.

These 2 devices have problems in Device Manager:
HID-konforme Maus HID\VID_1038&PID_1000&REV_0100&MI_02\3&12B2788C&0&0000 Das Gerät wurde deaktiviert.
Nicht verfügbar ROOT\SCSIADAPTER\0000 Die Treiber für dieses Gerät wurden nicht installiert.
The first is a mouse that is disabled. Is this deliberate? If so, why? The second is a device that helps to control your SCSI Adapter - this one isn't installed. I'd suggest visiting the MSI website to obtain the proper driver for this device.

You have a number of Live Kernel Events in the WER section of MSINFO32. Please do the following:
Please do the following:
- open Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from the "Run" dialog)
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

FYI - If we're looking for Event ID 41 errors (unexplained shutdowns), there's more info on that here: Windows Kernel event ID 41 error "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first" in Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows 7, or Windows Server 2008 R2

While waiting for a reply, please monitor your temps with this free utility: HWMonitor CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting

Do not run Panda Security and MalwareBytes at the same time - it'll cause problems.

MSI Afterburner and Riva Tuner (along with EVGA Precision) is known to cause BSOD's in some Windows systems (it's driver is usually RTCore64.sys). Please un-install them immediately!

If you're overclocking, please stop the overclock while we're troubleshooting. Feel free to resume the overclock once the system has been stabilized.

Beyond this, I have these 4 suggestions:
1. Get ALL available Windows Updates. It may take several trips to get them all
2. Get ALL available, Win8.1 compatible updates from the manufacturer's website.
3. Start with these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics
4. If all of the hardware tests pass, then run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: http://www.carrona.org/verifier.html

Hi there and thank you for the quick response - even on the holidays (Merry Christmas by the way)!

Now I have got a lot of homework to do ;-) but I am greatful for the advice and I`l try to keep up:

- The Updates: Right now I have everythin installed that the Win 8.1 Updater shows... Is there an other source of updates?

- As for the hard drives: There are 2 external HDD via USB 3.0 with 2 partitions each. I use them to do backups
Onboard i have an ssd Raid 0 with 2x128 GB (system) + 1000GB HDD with three partitions (data / mirror and / repair).

- I did not know that MSI Afterburner was causing problems... So thx also I do not part glady with this usefull program ;-(

- One of the mice is disabled, yes I am not sure why I did this - might be ther former mouse I used?

- The SCSI thing?! I`ll have to look this one up. Could this be the data bridge I used to connect one of the external HDD?

I tried to upload the zipped file but I am told it is invalid? Do you have any idea why this is?
Here is the dropbox link of the zipped file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/9q4y36tard22yxe/Admin.7z?dl=0

Best regards

I was able to see that the system wasn't able to make a minidump - but that it did create a MEMORY.dmp file in C:\Windows
Please zip that up and upload it to Dropbox and post a link here.

Then ensure that your system is set to make minidumps (from my previous instructions).
Then run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

Running MemTest will require that you change settings in the UEFI. If you don't know how to do that, don't worry - just run Prime95's Blend test from within Windows (it's not identical to MemTest, but it does test the RAM in a different way).

Prime95 is an excellent suggestion then. I know how to use from ocing my last desktop pc.

As to the dump file... I allready trashed that after taking the screenshot in the second post - sorry (won`t happen again...)

I´ll start going through the rest of the process you mentioned above now.

Best regards

Phil

P.S.: Yet another question - If MSI Afterburner or Overclocking was involved would`t that suggest that the BOSD would happen while the GPU is stressed? I never had a BOSD while gaming - even with max GPU Load. Dont`get me wrong. I`ll refrain from using Afterburner to exclude the stability issues - but...

The times it occured was:

-surfing the internet 5-6 times
-using OpenOffice 1 time
-copying a large amount of files from one external HDD to another (with to less virtual RAM)

Hi John!

With the verifier I cought two minidumps: I`ll load them up via dropbox again as the uploader again told me they are invalid:
Dump 1: https://www.dropbox.com/s/kn7fhwb0gro74m5/MSI01.dmp?dl=0
Dump 2: https://www.dropbox.com/s/b5mulqfejdg4rpx/MSI02.dmp?dl=0

The notebook crashed two times right after I typed in my pasword and crashed before the desktop showed up.

I as well made to scrrens with the bluescreenanalyzer.

Thank you for your help.

Besr regards

Phil

Update: Two more dumps:

Hi John!

Please have a look at the above post as well it allready contains 4 minidumps

I collected two more since (see below). Before doing so I did the following.

- deinstalled MSI Afterburner
- deinstalled RivaMonitor (Linked with MSI Afterburner)
- reverted to the Nvidia driver version issued by MSI
- checked for Windows Updates agiain (no new ones)
- installed all the new dirvers/software provided by MSI for my system
- run prime95 (if only for 20 min - I´ll do some more over night) without issues

Still with verifier I get the same chrash before reaching the desktop:
Dump 5: https://www.dropbox.com/s/1c1tmyu5p676n79/MSI05.dmp?dl=0
Dump 6: https://www.dropbox.com/s/1neieshn9kbbna9/MSI06.dmp?dl=0

Best regards

Phil

Update: The next thing I will try is the following - MSI offers the option to manually switch between Nvidia graphics and Intel onboard graphics. So I`ll disable Nvidia and try "verifier" with Intel onboard graphics. Just to be sure it is not an Issue of the graphics card. I`ll post the dumps to come below.

Update: The following two dumps were made with nvidia card disabled - still the dumps keep comming:
Dump 7: https://www.dropbox.com/s/bljul0upn7tlejz/MSI07.dmp?dl=0
Dump 8: https://www.dropbox.com/s/9n865n9ytzz6ce1/MSI08.dmp?dl=0

Update: At the last sartup something curious happened. Win 8.1 was booting to the UEFI as the tow preceding bootups were not succesful. On choosing advanced startup the notebook shutdown allof a sudden and started regulary - this time I came past the log on screen and am now writing to you... The system seems extremely slow...

Update: I`ve done several startups now (with verifier running) and the computer did not crash... I wonder why?! The only things I have disables in verifier are "Simulation of Low Resouces", "Systematic Simulation of low resoucres" and "Force Pending I/O Requests"...

Update: Really weired... The Pandasecurity PSUMain.exe suddenly stresses my CPU a lot - with or without verifier settings applied. It occupys up to 50% of my CPU. This was why the Notebook was so slow... I deinstalled it for now (especially as I read about Panda causing BSOD as well occasinonally).

Update: This one happened while ideling over night - Nothing save the mouse was connected - System allways kept comming to the desktop now - Never crashed at Startup - Yet Panda cant be it...
Dump 9: https://www.dropbox.com/s/7vsevxm5j6y8zgy/MSI09.dmp?dl=0

Update: After reading around a bit: Seems like BasicRender.sys and Msfs.sys - but what does that mean?

Update: There is a bios Update for my notebook, yet the despription does not sound promissing: H10 "Fixed logo show 3 times under legacy". Might be noobish but after reading here: http://www.eightforums.com/bsod-crashes-debugging/38073-random-bsods.html - I also checked the LAN and WIFI drivers for updates - but they are up to date.

Update: Two more things I can think of - I use MSI fan control tool to adjust the fan speed of my GPU ad CPU fans. The program is propriate MSI (like Afterburner ;-P) - Could it be the cause? Plus: up to now I have naver had bluescreen under heavy load - only ideling, surfing or while i was occupied with regular desktop business.

Update: I did run chkdsk form boot and got the following output (google translate as my system is german)

Phase 1: The basic file system structure is studied ...

I generally only get online in the early morning in the Eastern US (UTC-5 hours).

Maybe yes, maybe no. If it's the driver causing the problem (as is usually the case with MSI Afterburner), then it can happen at any time that the system hits that special place that causes the BSOD. If it's the overclocking causing it, then most likely it should have problems when the system (not necessarily the GPU) is stressed. For example here, if your Northbridge is overheating, you probably won't see anything when stressing the GPU (unless you're also stressing the Northbridge). In addition to all of that, if you stress a certain part of the GPU - and that's not the part of the GPU that's failing - then you'll likely not see any problems from it either.

Please don't rename the dump files - I use the names to sort those that I have to run from those that I have already run.
Have you tried zipping up the memory dumps and uploading them here. I expect that the .dmp extension (along with others) is blocked.

From the chkdsk output:
There corrections were made to the file system
This says that there was a problem with the NTFS file system on your hard drive - and that it had corrections made.
1) Please run these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics Start with the hard drive diagnostics because of the chkdsk results
2) In a week or two, run chkdsk again and see if it again corrects the file system. If it does, then there's a persistent problem that'll have to be looked into.

All memory dumps (except for the last one) were caused by psinknc.sys - a driver for the Panda Cloud antivirus.

The latest memory dump points to a networking driver problem, but doesn't point to anything in particular.
BUT, there have been problems with MSI systems recently, and in the past with MSI networking issues.
So, first let's work on these 2 drivers:
winio64.sys Fri Jun 4 00:08:03 2010 (4C087C23)
Nuvoton Technology Corporation PCIeBridge[br]Part of MSI Dragoon Gaming Center also
http://www.carrona.org/drivers/driver.php?id=winio64.sys

NTIOLib_X64.sys Thu Oct 25 06:27:58 2012 (5089142E)
MSI Afterburner driver (known BSOD issues with Windows) Also found to be a part of MSI Live Update 5[br][br]Recently (Nov 2014) there have been numerous instances of this driver in memory dumps. Analysis reveals that they are scattered throughout the filesystem by the installed MSI command utilities. For now I suggest uninstalling them all.
http://www.carrona.org/drivers/driver.php?id=NTIOLib_X64.sys

Please temporarily uninstall the MSI Dragoon Gaming Center software.
Also, please uninstall the MSI Afterburner software and the MSI Live Update software (this driver was in the "drivers" folder, so it's not likely that it's a part of the MSI Command Utilities.
Then check to be sure that both winio64.sys and NTIOLib_X64.sys are not in the C:\Windows\System32\drivers directory (DO NOT delete them, it may render your system unbootable!!! If needed I can provide a method to safely remove them manually).

Uninstall your iTunes, and download/install a fresh copy. The GEARAspiWDM.sys driver on your system dates from 2009 - and the latest version dates from 2012.

Hi John! No problem there, I am thankful that you care to take time. I just want to understand the issue myself and thought it would be good to log the events/ideas that crossed me as complete as I could.

As to the DMP files I tried to zip them (7z) but they are not allowed in this format.
Do you want me to upload the DMPs with the original names again?

Furthermore: I`ll do as you adviced and will uninstall the programs you mentioned. Then I`ll report if winio64.sys and ntiolib_x.sys are still there.

Best regards

Phil

Update: I`ll Deinstalled the following Programs (together with some other stuff like CyberlinkDVD):

- MSI Remind Manager
- MSI Supercharger
- MSI Dragon Gaming Center
- MSI Battery Calibration
- MSI BurnRecovery

The MSI programs I did not/could not deinstall are:
- MSI Fan Control as it helps me to keep the fans quiet (this version is portable / had not to be installed / contains no *.sys files)
- MSI System Control Manager (this is the only way to switch between dedicated GPU and on board GPU)

Update:
- I was not able to find MSI Live Update on my system?!
- winio64.sys is NOT in C:\Windows\System32\drivers (anymore)!
- NTIOLib_X64 is NOT in C:\Windows\System32\drivers (anymore)!
- old iTunes deinstalled -> actual iTunes installed

Hi there and thank you for the infromation.

As to my problem - After all went well at first (see my last post), I had to face unexpected trouble yesterday in the evening. After the deinstallation of the MSI apps the overall performance of my GPU went down in an extreme way. In several programms I had massive frame drops due to downclocking of the GPU. Reinstalling drivers did not help.

In the end only the playback of a mirror image from Dec 24th fixed it. So it does not seem to be a hardware issue but some kind of throttlestop performed by one of the MSI apps...

I was really frustrated...

I try to deinstall the apps one at a time now... and will have to see. Of course I`ll load up the dumps...

Best regards

Phil

Hi!

I cought this DUMP with verifier on (again while ideling! I am working for an hour now... with verifier on - and no problem?!). For this time I kept the MSI Products but tried a new Anti-Virus-Program. Could you please check if ti was the 360 Anti-Vir? or could you tell how to see which driver crashed?

Best regards

Phil

P.S.: I had no bluescreen/restart without verifier since I deinstalled PANDA SECURITY and reinstalled iTunes and all Drivers and firmeware I could get

P.P.S.: I allready learned a lot thourgh this erros and through your posts and this forums! So Thank you very much!

Update: I downloaded Microsoft SDK: This is what I got. If I guess correctly, is this the network thing again?

You've done a great job with the debugger!
Please see step E at this link to set your symbols: WinDbg Analysis Report

In most cases, when the system crashes the debugger will blame the module that owns the memory space that the crash occurred in. In this case it was nt (ntoskrnl.exe or ntkrnlmp.exe). When this happens we presume the following:
- we rule out 3rd party drivers (over 90% of BSOD's are due to this)
- we rule out hardware (less than 10% of BSOD's are due to this)
- we then look at Windows problems (less than 1% of BSOD's are due to this - as long as Windows Updates are fully up to date).

And, since ntoskrnl.exe/ntkrnlmp.exe is the kernel (core) of the Operating System - it has lot's of built in protections. As such, it's not likely to be at fault (and if it was, you'd be seeing many more problems other than the occasional BSOD).

We then look at the Stack Text to see if there are any 3rd party drivers there (in your case there aren't).
Then we look at the rest of the report.
In this case, we see evidence of Ndis related to the verifier enabled crash.

NDIS stands for Network Driver Interface Specification ( http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...=5ctIwCYU7vovM1VBl7sFAg&bvm=bv.82001339,d.eXY )
As such, we have to suspect something that's accessing the network.

We're now at the point where we need to extract a bit more info out of the memory dump. I use an automated program to do this, but you can do the same thing by using the command !analyze -v;!thread;r;kv;lmtn;lmtsmn;.bugcheck (type this in the box at the very bottom of the active debugger window) and then press Enter

So, looking at the memory dump below, I note that the winio64.sys and the NTIOLib_X64.sys are both present in the memory dump. I also see RTCore64.sys so it may be linked to something from MSI that you reinstalled. If so, what did you reinstall?

So, my question is - did this memory dump happen before or after you made sure that they weren't in C:\Windows\System32\drivers?

Please note that while 360 Anti-Vir is in the memory dump, it's not necessarily to blame (but we haven't ruled it out either).
It's not likely to be at fault though, because you were having BSOD's before you installed it.

The next thing we'll look at after the above stuff is these 3 drivers:
tbhsd.sys (more info on it here: Driver Reference Table - tbhsd.sys )
rsvcdwdr.sys (more info on it here: Rsvcdwdr.sys driver | What is Rsvcdwdr.sys file? )
RrNetCapFilterDriver.sys (more info on it here: Malware scan of rrnetcapfilterdriver.sys (RadioRip) 5270a06acf151cc862f418b0171b5f8ccbc59694 - herdProtect )
(FYI - they are merely the next oldest drivers in the debugger's output)

You've done a great job with the debugger!

...

So, looking at the memory dump below, I note that the winio64.sys and the NTIOLib_X64.sys are both present in the memory dump. I also see RTCore64.sys so it may be linked to something from MSI that you reinstalled. If so, what did you reinstall?

So, my question is - did this memory dump happen before or after you made sure that they weren't in C:\Windows\System32\drivers?

...

Hi John!

First of all: Thank you for the hint concearning the debugger!

Then: I am afraid to say that - as I had this drastic throtteling issues with the graphics card after deinstalling the MSI programs - I reinstalled them all again to the result that the latest DMP file is had NTIOLib_X64.sys and WINIO64.sys present together with the reinstalled MSI Afterburner (the source of the RTCore64.sys).

As you see above I now start uninstalling MSI Programs one at a time (NTIOLib_X64 from MSI Supercharger ist allready gone) to see which effect this has on the graphics card. I presume that MSI Dragon Gaming Center has some sort of throttelstop effect on the graphics card... So lets see. I am SORRY that I reinstalled Afterburner again as well but I had to monitor the for the above reason.

The only positive thing I can say that - even though they were installed - none of the drivers (NTIOLib_X64.sys / WINIO64.sys / RTCore64.sys) are or were locates in the "C:\Windows\System32\drivers" folder. I hope this helps?

Third: Does it even make any sense to work on the next drivers you suggested (updating tunebite for example) while those two MSI drivers still hang out on my system? Don`t I have to try to sort them out first?

Once again best regards and Thank you for your help!

Phil

P.S.: I laughed so hard when I read your comments on your system specs. Seems like you have no bluescreens - but many other projects to work on regarding your notebook ;-P

Wow... One Moment! The drivers you mentioned...

tbhsd.sys (more info on it here: Driver Reference Table - tbhsd.sys )
rsvcdwdr.sys (more info on it here: Rsvcdwdr.sys driver | What is Rsvcdwdr.sys file? )
RrNetCapFilterDriver.sys (more info on it here: Malware scan of rrnetcapfilterdriver.sys (RadioRip) 5270a06acf151cc862f418b0171b5f8ccbc59694 - herdProtect )

They all belong to the same software: Audials one.

An this software made my system freeze yesterday (see the extraction of DMP below) - without bluescreen at least - but this was the only freez i expreienced in the last 5 days in normal mode (without having verifier on)...

Could this be a trail?

Best regards

Phila

Update:

I installed a actual version of Audials One so those drivers...

tbhsd.sys (more info on it here: Driver Reference Table - tbhsd.sys )
rsvcdwdr.sys (more info on it here: Rsvcdwdr.sys driver | What is Rsvcdwdr.sys file? )
RrNetCapFilterDriver.sys (more info on it here: Malware scan of rrnetcapfilterdriver.sys (RadioRip) 5270a06acf151cc862f418b0171b5f8ccbc59694 - herdProtect )

...should be recent now. Perhaps this helps?!

Best regards

Phil

Update: Verifier crash again. I analyzed it allready (the method you mentioned)
