    BIOS doesn't communicate with HDD

When I am starting the computer, it loads BIOS. But after the BIOS load the BSOD pops up, error code 0xc00000e9.
This is what the screen says:

    Windows Recovery Environment

Your PC needs to be repaired

The operating system couldn't load because the kernel is missing or contains errors.

    File: \WINDOWS\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
    Error code: 0xc00000e9

It's not the communication between the BIOS and the HD the problem, you have missing or corrupted files, or a corrupted Registry, it can cause by a PC that was power off not properly, a virus or even a hard drive who start to die. I will first check for virus with a virus scan on a boot CD. Microsoft as a Defender Offline you can try after the virus scan to eliminate other possibilities.

    What is Windows Defender Offline?

After you can start to repair the Windows with the Install disk.

Sound like you installed Windows 8 to a Logical partition instead of Primary and that is partially the cause. Either that, or your bcd is incorrect, to start the OS. It might be looking for Windows 8 on a different partition or hard drive.

    Win8.1Pro - Finally!!!

    I'm a Win7 kinda guy and don't have much experience with Win8.
But, a lot of the diagnostics still remain the same, so I'm going to offer this:

    Here's it's definition from the ntstatus.h file (I posted a copy here: ntstatus.h ):
If an I/O error is returned which is not defined in the standard FsRtl filter, it is converted to the following error which is guaranteed to be in the filter. In this case information is lost, however, the filter correctly handles the exception.
Since it cites the Kernel (ntoskrnl.exe), that's the file that had IO problems.
Why? Well, that's what Startup Repair and hardware diagnostics are for.

Try running Startup Repair at least 3 times. Keep an eye on the error messages (if any).
Then run this free hard drive diagnostic procedure: Hard Drive Diagnostic Procedure

You can also try (from Startup Repair...Command Prompt) the following commands (pressing Enter after each one):

    bootrec /fixboot
    bootrec /fixmbr
    bootrec /rebuildbcd

I installed windws 8 on the main partition where w7 used to be, so it is installed on the primary partition.
started up ubuntu form flashdrive and tried to read the partition where w8 was located, but it wouldn't read i, even if it had ntfs drivers installed.
then I tried to use a docking station for sata drives and i got in to the partiton for like a minute, then the whole harddrive just broke down.

so it was most likely the harddrive itself that failed, a bad harddrive. bought a new one and now everything is running smooth again,

But thanks for the replies people
