Solved BSOD when I connect to internet after upgrading to Win 8.1

Hi

I have two desktop PCs and one notebook all running Windows 8.1 Pro and all showing the BSOD after I connect to the Internet. After connecting to the Internet it can take from a few seconds to a few minutes before the BSOD appears. It would report something slightly different: UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP or UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP (NETIO.SYS).

With all of them running Win 8.0 everything was working fine. Then I upgraded to Win 8.1 and the BSOD began to occur whenever I connected to the Internet. I delayed upgrading my second PC to 8.1 but recently Microsoft started forcing us to upgrade. So when my second desktop PC, after upgrading to Win 8.1, whenever I connect to the Internet the BSOD also occurs.

I then brought a notebook last week, upgraded it from Win 8.0 to Win 8.1 Pro then the same problem occurs.
Strangely both PCs and the notebook can connect to the Internet via WiFi without any problems. All were also working fine before upgrading to Win 8.1.

The only common thing with my 3 Win 8.1 machines are they are all Asus and all use Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controllers.

Removed as much of the Asus apps as possible from my notebook. Updated GPU driver to latest version version. Ran System File Checker, no problems. BSOD reoccurred after connecting to internet. Enabled Driver Verifier. Attached new debug zip file.

I installed Install_Win8_8.1_8036_11242014.zip found at Realtek

Setup asked if I wanted to Modify, Repair, or Remove. I selected Repair, then setup said it was installing Driver 3.0.36 (not sure of the exact version number).

Do I need to select Remove and re-install?

I have attached latest debug info with Driver Verifier enabled.

Left ASMMAP64.sys as is as I could not find a driver suitable for my notebook.

Uninstalled Realtek drivers, reboot, reinstall Realtek drivers, reboot.

Now everything is working normally.

Just updated my desktop PCs' RealTek drivers too and they can now also connect to the internet without the BSOD.
