I have been trying to figure out this BSOD for the past few months. At first I was only getting it once a month until recent when I have been getting it every day it seems. My specs are:

Win 8 64 bit
16 GB Ram
i7 4770k z87 pro mobo
gtx 660 gpu

I have bought a new PSU thinking that could be the issue, but that didnt fix it. Currently I have an 9800 gtx GPU in there seeing if the GPU was bad. I have run memtest for 8 hours and nothing failed. I also just ran Prime95 stress test for 30 hours with nothing failed. Please help!

Edit: Just got a BSOD while using thew 9800. Narrowing it down to either ram, mobo, cpu...

I was just skimming through the unanswered posts and noticed this.
Do you still need help with this problem?

Yes I do still need help. I have been keeping my post up to date with edits on what I have tried. I ordered a new cpu fan and thermal paste to see if it is a heat related issue. Other than that I'm completely lost.

Only 79 Windows Updates installed. Most systems have 100 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

Don't worry about the specific number, it's just important that you have checked and installed any updates that were available (and didn't experience any errors).

You have 3 hard drives. What is the make/model/wattage and age of your Power Supply?

Looks pretty much like a hardware problem to me. Start with these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics

Just in case it's not a hardware problem, please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

Just a quick question usamsa before I start these tests. Does the FAILURE_BUCKET_ID: 0x124_GenuineIntel_PROCESSOR_CACHE point to the CPU failing or is that something different?

My Computer

System One

  • OS
    Windows 8 64 bit
I'm almost certain you've got a failing CPU yes. Although it's not because of the failing bucket id, that indicates the error stemmed from the CPU cache.

Code:
Error : [COLOR=#00ffff]DCACHE[/COLOR][COLOR=#800080]L0[/COLOR]_[COLOR=#ff0000]WR_ERR[/COLOR] ([COLOR=#ff0000]Proc 5[/COLOR] [COLOR=#ffa500]Bank 1[/COLOR])
  Status : 0xbf80000000000124
  Address : 0x000000003b09d740
  Misc. : 0x0000000000000086

This error is consistent with all dump files, indicating a Level 0 cache write error; due to the consistency, you've got a failing CPU. I'm 99% certain of it, although you should try Usasma's suggestions first.

The hardware diagnostics include a CPU test (along with other tests that also impact the CPU).
The "FAILURE_BUCKET_ID: 0x124_GenuineIntel_PROCESSOR_CACHE" is pointing to a problem that was reported by your CPU to Windows. More info on it here: BSOD Index - STOP 0x124

In this case, the last 2 memory dumps point to the same Processor and bank for the cache error.
So it's possible that there is a problem with that processor/bank within your CPU
Or, it's possible that the error producing driver has stored it's bad info in the same location within the CPU cache

Further hardware diagnostics/stress tests will help to isolate the exact cause.

Here's the errors that I got when running the analysis:

    CPU
Came with the laptop (i7 of some sort)
    Motherboard
Pretty sure that it has one, but haven't checked inside the case!
    Memory
upgraded to 12 gB from 8 gB
    Graphics Card(s)
has switchable - Intel/ATI - Used wrong drivers, now ATI card is inop :( Will have to fix it soon!
    Sound Card
I'm nearly deaf, so this isn't used often
    Monitor(s) Displays
Touchscreen on laptop/32" Toshiba on HDMI (laid the Sharp TV on a mouse and cracked the screen!)
    Screen Resolution
    800x600
    Hard Drives
One Samsung 1tB drive - 5400 rpm. Gonna switch to a 7200/10000 rpm or an SSD (if I can find $500 for a 1tB SSD!)
    - Switched to 500 gB Samsung 840 series SSD - WOW!!!
    PSU
Why do we ask this for laptops?
    Case
Silver with a neat Samsung logo
    Cooling
sub-par, gotta get around to working on it soon Worked on it - still sub-par! :(
    Keyboard
Microsoft Natural - the same one I've used since it orignally came out around 1995
    Mouse
    no Mouse - Trackball!!!!
    Internet Speed
too slow when I'm waiting for a download to finish

    Antivirus
    Windows Defender and Windows Firewall
    Other Info

I ran prime95 and memtest for 24 hours+ with no errors or blue screens. Could an overheating issue cause the CPU to fail? I havent checked the temps of the CPU while I play WoW, but is there a possibility that its not the CPU (dont want to spend 300$+ dollars), but the fan or heatsink?

There are many different possibilities here.

Monitoring your temps is one thing that you can do. Monitor your system's temperatures with this free tool: HWMonitor CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting Depending on the results of this, it'll tell us if you need to pursue different cooling solutions.

MemTest86+ and Prime95 (particularly the Blend test) are mostly RAM (system memory tests).
Other tests with Prime95 (such as Small FFT's and Large FFT's) will stress the CPU cache and memory controller (on the CPU in the i7 processors) more than the Blend test. So try the Small FFT's and the Large FFT's tests and see if they generate any errors.

Also, try the Intel Processor Processor Diagnostic Tool (it's the first one listed in the CPU Stress test section here): Hardware Diagnostics
