Hello,

I've build my new PC 10 days ago, works perfectly for me, but sometimes I've got a BSOD when i try to start system. Today I've got another one. I've pushed power button to turn on computer, it seems that all load correctly, but after a while, computer suddenly and completly shut down without any touches. When I try turn on second time, I've got a BSOD - Kernel Security Check Failure, then restart again and problem still going, but I'm tried again - this time system load, but I've seen another problem - Location is not available (C:\Wiindows\System32\Config\systemprofile\Desktop refers to a location that is unavailable). When I've restarted again, all system load perfeclty without any problems and still working perfeclty fine. I'm annoyed what is going wrong with my PC.

PS: PC are unplugged from the power strip overnight. Sometimes when is not unplugged, it seems like system is starting faster. It is does have the effect for this?

Sorry for my english,
Thanks for any help and suggestions!

System One

  • OS
    Windows
    Computer type
    PC/Desktop
Win8/8.1 had different shutdown procedures than previous versions of Windows.
Sometimes it'll shut down but leave some of the kernel level stuff in RAM so that the system will start faster.
If you cut the power off completely, then that stuff will be erased by the loss of power and a full shutdown will occur

It should be that the system will boot faster when power is left connected than when it isn't. As such there may be a startup problem. Ask over in the general forums for assistance from the experts.

As for the sequence of crashes that you describe, please do the following:
- open Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from the "Run" dialog)
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

While waiting for a reply, please monitor your temps with this free utility: HWMonitor CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting

MSI Afterburner and Riva Tuner (along with EVGA Precision) are known to cause BSOD's in some Windows systems (it's driver is usually RTCore64.sys). Please un-install them immediately!

If you're overclocking, please stop the overclock while we're troubleshooting. Feel free to resume the overclock once the system has been stabilized.

You may want to remove all of the MSI Command utilities as the NTIOLib_X64.sys driver is scattered throughout your system by it.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

If all of this doesn't stop the BSOD's, please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings
