Hello, i'm using a new Windows 8.1 Home Premium Acer Desktop. I got it a few weeks ago, and about every week I have another BSOD. I'm getting tired of constantly loosing work because of this. I just had another one about 10 minutes ago. All of the BSOD say "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL". I used a tool called Blue Screen View and I have posted what it said about the BSOD below.

I'd appreciate any help with solving my issue. Other info below:

Programs I use on computer:
Windows Defender
MalwareBytes Pro
CCleaner
Driver Booster
Those are some programs you may need to know about.
Also, I cannot run a chkdsk /f on my computer. When it reboots to run the chkdsk, it gets stuck at the same point every time. I have tried sfc /scannow, and DISM. It fixes errors, then I try to run chkdsk again and it still gets stuck. Maybe the two problems are related.

As we can see from the stack, your GlarySoft Utilities driver is causing the problem. I would suggest you to uninstall this program immediately and then check for stability issues.

Let me know how it goes ^_^

Thanks a ton for your help blueelvis. The thing is, I do not have GlarySoft Utilities installed on my computer. I did use a portable version of it on a USB drive once though. Just to do a quick tuneup with the utilities without going through the trouble of installing it. It seems it left a driver behind that was not removed. Could you help me manually remove it? Until then, I will give it a go myself.

I gave it a try, was unable to figure it out. I tried looking in the Device Manager, Msconfig, and Task Manager but was unsuccessful. Whenever you get a chance you can walk me through it. Thanks.

Hi Windows8Home ^_^,

-Download the AutoRuns software from this **LINK**.

-Run it as Administrator bu right clicking on it and then Clicking "Run As Administrator".

-Once it is opened, a list would be generated of the Registry Entries which run at startup. Search for any entries which you could find for the GlarySoft Utilites or the "GUBootStartup.sys".

-Once, you find them uncheck the checkmark in front of the entries. Make sure you do this for all of the entries which you find for the above criteria.

-Restart the system

-Once the system is rebooted, do a system wide manual search for the driver "GUBootStartup.sys" and then rename the driver to "GUBootStartup.s-s". You would be given a warning, don't worry about it. Once this is done, reboot your machine.

Let me know how it goes ^_^.

Okay, I finished all the steps. I found "GUBootStartup" using Autoruns and disabled it. Then I found the "GUBootStartup.sys", and renamed it. It then deleted itself.

I will see if I still have the BSOD. It would happen randomly about once a week or so. I'll tell you if it happens again.

Thanks a ton!
