Random Freezes - Kernel Power Error 41

Hi guys,

I'm posting this topic because I've been experiencing unexpected problems with my PC in the past few weeks and I really don't know what to do. This is what happens (I'll try to make it as clear and as brief as I can):

- Every 2-3 days I face unexpected crashes of my PC with no apparent reason. PC just restarts randomly after a rapid BSOD even when I'm not doing anything and it gets stuck on the BIOS without letting me start Windows over again. The only way I've found to get past this issue is to alter my System Performance setting (directly from BIOS) going from "Normal" to "Asus Optimal" or vice-versa.

- I haven't been able to spot any actual problems with my system but taking a look in the "Events Visualizer" (hope this is the right translation, I'm Italian) I've seen that every crash coincides with a Kernel-Power Error 41. I have no idea what this means and, obviously, don't know what to do to solve the issue. Can crashes and this error be connected?

This is what I get looking into the Kernel Error 41

What's more is that I found a Kernel Boot Error 29 going on every single day for the past 2 weeks. This is what I get:

And just to add some more info to all this, I've found out, through the Reliability Monitor, that every shutdown of the system is recorded as a "Incorrect shutdown of Windows" (once again I'm providing a litteral translation of the Italian message I receive).

Could someone help me out on this? Thanks in advance!

ps. I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro, on an Intel i7-4790 CPU 3,60Gh with 16GB of RAM and a GeForce GTX 780.

Hi Falc0 & Welcome to the forums ^_^,

We would need the diagnostic ZIP File in order to provide a much better analysis. Kindly follow the instructions over here -

http://www.eightforums.com/bsod-cra...e-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html

But, the Kernel Event 41 is related to Power. I would suggest you to immediately STOP Overclocking if you are doing any and reset back to STOCK Settings. Even if you are not doing so, kindly reset all of your BIOS Settings.

Let me know how it goes ^_^

Hi blueelvis and thank you both for the warm welcome and precious info :) I have added the attachment you requested (sorry if I didn't do so initially, but I was... emotionally overwhelmed by the problem and didn't take my time to read the topic ^^").

As for the Overclocking I don't think I'm currently doing anything like it, and my System Performance setting is set to Normal. Do I need to do something in particular in order to reset my BIOS setting apart from loading predefined settings in the BIOS screen?

Thanks for the info!

Hi Falc0 ^_^,

Just checked your Event Logs and MSINFO32. I tried digging some information since the information stored is in Italian :p
It seems that you have 3 hard disks attached to the system. Can you tell me the wattage/model of your Power Supply Unit/SMPS installed inside the CPU?

Furthermore, there are no dump files inside the ZIP File and nor I could find any trace of them inside the Event Log files. I would suggest you to manually search your C: Driver with the keywords "*.dmp" (Without quotes) and see if you could find any dump files.

I would suggest you to make sure that the firmware of the SSD is up to date. Also, make sure that you don't have any loose connections inside the CPU.

Let me know how it goes ^_^

Hi blueelvis, thanks a lot for the follow up :) and sorry you had to cope with some Italian ^^"

As for your questions, I'm using a 750W Corsair RM with a Shadow Rock 2 as CPU Cooler, and just to be more precise, I have 2 internal drives (a Crucial SSD MX100 SATA3 with 512GB with the OS on it, and a Seagate 2TB SATA 3 7200rpm as a secondary drive) plus an external WD (a Western Digital Elements 2TB 3.5').

As for the dump files, I'll attach a screen with the results, so you can see if there's anything of interest that you might want me to look into.

Finally, SSD firmware seems up to date and as far as I've seen, there seems to be no loose connections anywhere (is there a more precise way to tell?).

Just as a little piece of additional info, I've seen through my control panel (under system devices) that the AMDA00 Interface is highlighted and, in the details, it says (litteral translation once again :D) "The hardware device can't be started. Configuration information in the System Registry are incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)". Could this have something to do with my issue? Surfing the web I've seen may people have the same issue but it doesn't seem to affect them in any way (people say its some kind of bug).

I think that's all, tell me if you need anything else and, obviously, thank you SO MUCH for all your help :)

Hi Falc0 ^_^,

Unfortunately, the dump files are the application crashes from the User Mode and not the ones which I am looking for. I just went through your ZIP Files again. I would suggest you to update the following drivers -

  1. AMD Chipset Drivers and NVIDIA Storage Drivers, I am not able to locate the model for your motherboard but I am sure you know that and you could find the appropriate drivers. In case of problems, do not hesitate to ask me ^_^.
  2. Intel Rapid Storage Drivers.

Till the time we are troubleshooting, I would suggest you to remove your Norton Suite using this **TOOL**. Also go into the BIOS settings of your system and then do a RESET of the settings.

If after doing the above stuff, you are still having problems then proceed further. It seems you have multiple RAM Modules. For such kind of problems, my dad always used to say to try and start the system with minimum configuration. See if you are able to keep the System up and running with minimum RAM, without the GPU, removing all the Hard Disks and keeping your SSD Only in the system cabinet. See if the problem still persists or not.

Still problems?
Post back the results of the Hardware Diagnostics over here - Hardware Diagnostics

Let me know how it goes ^_^
