Solved Multiple BSOD's while playing different games

Hello,

I am getting a lot of BSOD's for a while now and I got quite desperate in finding the solution. A friend who knows more about this stuff then me had some suggestions, but he wasn't sure either.

The BSOD's happens mostly when I am playing games, but not always. I updated drivers as much as I could.

I keep getting different BSOD error messages, but WhoCrashed tells me its probably a driver, most likely my graphics driver. I updated it to the most recent one that came out a few days ago, but it didn't help. I ran memtest, but my RAM seems to be fine.

I added the requested DM log file, as I read in the help post.

Thanks in advance,

Gerkos

Please uninstall EasyTune for the time being.

By any chance are you connected to the internet via USB? Possibly using it as a wireless? If so, are you able to connect to your motem/router via ethernet cable?

Thanks for welcoming me in and helping me out! :)

It's connected by ethernet already. I have no idea what EasyTune is, can't find it.

As we can see from the Dump files, there is One_Bit Corruption in the Memory. This generally means that there is a problem in the RAM. It means that a flip flop flipped while the operation was being performed which caused the corruption.
Below is a list of 3rd party drivers present on your system :-

Thanks HonorGamer and Blueelvis for spending time on my problem, much appreciated.

I can find the file AODDriver2.sys, but can I just delete it? Or do I need to uninstall it some other way?

You asked me to remove Razer devices, but if I do that I do not have a mouse any more. :) Can I still use my razer mouse? And with peripherals you mean stuff like xbox gamepads, webcam and stuff like that?

I ran memtest one pass 2 days ago, but I'll let it run overnight and see what the results are tomorrow.

Simply rename the driver file. That should do the trick. Once you rename it, reboot the machine and then see if another new copy of the file is generated or not.

I would suggest you to disconnect the Razer Mouse and then check for BSOD's.

OK thanks again for all the help. I delete the aoddriver2.sys and it didn't come back. I removed any unnessary usb stuff and i ran memtest a lot, no errors found. I wanted to see how the pc did after all this for a few days (became 2 weeks). I didn't get many bsod's but I did get 2.

Both CRITICAL STRUCTURE CORRUPTION.

Does this have to do with the memory? I do have 2 sets of 2x2GB ram (8GB total), both sets from Kingston. They do not have the exact same serial number. It wasnt much of a problem for years though. Its installed correctly dual channel is on. I do however wonder if it became a problem. I upgraded cpu and gpu over the years.

Thanks again!

Hi Gerkos ^_^,

I have analysed your dump files and below has been provided an analysis of the same for informative purposes -
Code:
CRITICAL_STRUCTURE_CORRUPTION (109)
This bugcheck is generated when the kernel detects that critical kernel code or
data have been corrupted. There are generally three causes for a corruption:
1) A driver has inadvertently or deliberately modified critical kernel code
or data. See [URL="http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/driver/kernel/64bitPatching.mspx"]Kernel patch protection for x64-based operating systems[/URL]
2) A developer attempted to set a normal kernel breakpoint using a kernel
debugger that was not attached when the system was booted. Normal breakpoints,
"bp", can only be set if the debugger is attached at boot time. Hardware
breakpoints, "ba", can be set at any time.
3) A hardware corruption occurred, e.g. failing RAM holding kernel code or data.
Arguments:
Arg1: a3a01f59123f66cd, Reserved
Arg2: b3b72bdf64bca950, Reserved
Arg3: [COLOR=#ff0000]fffff8029c85fb2c[/COLOR], Failure type dependent information
Arg4: 0000000000000001, Type of corrupted region, can be
 0 : A generic data region
1 : Modification of a function or .pdata
 2 : A processor IDT
 3 : A processor GDT
 4 : Type 1 process list corruption
 5 : Type 2 process list corruption
 6 : Debug routine modification
 7 : Critical MSR modification
So, we have the critical structure corruption. Let's check the functions at the 3rd parameter.
Code:
4: kd> ln [COLOR=#FF0000]fffff8029c85fb2c[/COLOR]
(fffff802`9c85fb2c) nt!KiAcquireSpinLockInstrumented | (fffff802`9c85fbdc) nt!KiReleaseSpinLockInstrumented
Exact matches:
    [COLOR=#0000ff]nt!KiAcquireSpinLockInstrumented[/COLOR] (<no parameter info>)
On un-assembling this function in Blue, we get the below information :-
Code:
4: kd> u [COLOR=#0000FF]nt!KiAcquireSpinLockInstrumented[/COLOR]+0
nt!KiAcquireSpinLockInstrumented:
fffff802`9c85fb2c 48895c2408 mov qword ptr [rsp+8],rbx
fffff802`9c85fb31 [B][COLOR=#ff8c00]4a896c2418 [/COLOR][/B] mov qword ptr [rsp+r12+18h],rbp
fffff802`9c85fb36 56 push rsi
fffff802`9c85fb37 57 push rdi
fffff802`9c85fb38 4156 push r14
fffff802`9c85fb3a 4883ec30 sub rsp,30h
fffff802`9c85fb3e 65488b1c2520000000 mov rbx,qword ptr gs:[20h]
fffff802`9c85fb47 4533c9 xor r9d,r9d
I compared this part with the Kernel Executable (ntoskrnl.exe) with the one present on my system which is also Windows 8.1 and the same edition and I got the below information on un-assembling the same function as above -
Code:
0:000> u [COLOR=#0000FF]ntoskrnl!KiAcquireSpinLockInstrumented[/COLOR]+0
ntoskrnl!KiAcquireSpinLockInstrumented:
00000001`401dbb2c 48895c2408 mov qword ptr [rsp+8],rbx
00000001`401dbb31 [B][COLOR=#ff8c00]48896c2418[/COLOR][/B] mov qword ptr [rsp+18h],rbp
00000001`401dbb36 56 push rsi
00000001`401dbb37 57 push rdi
00000001`401dbb38 4156 push r14
00000001`401dbb3a 4883ec30 sub rsp,30h
00000001`401dbb3e 65488b1c2520000000 mov rbx,qword ptr gs:[20h]
00000001`401dbb47 4533c9 xor r9d,r9d
If we compare the values, the second digit in my case is 8 and in your case, it is 'a'. Furthermore, there is an additional Register involved in the Mov operation in your case i.e. R12 register.
Also, your dump files has got One_Bit_Corruption which means the structure was corrupted by one bit. This is generally a failing RAM Module.
But, before that, kindly perform the following DISM operations to make sure that there is no corruption -

Thanks USASMA!
Then please run the following DISM commands to see if there's any problems with the system (from an elevated (Run as administrator) Command Prompt). Press Enter after each one:
Code:
Code:
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
Code:
Code:
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
If the problem is fixable, you can use this command to repair it (from an elevated (Run as administrator) Command Prompt). Press Enter after typing it:
Code:
Code:
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
From this article: Repair a Windows Image

Also run sfc.exe /scannow from an elevated (Run as administrator) Command Prompt to check for further corruption.

Once this is done, kindly run Memtest according to this **GUIDE** for no less than 8 passes.

Let me know how it goes ^_^

Hi Gerkos ^_^,

Thanks. I am able to learn so much new everyday because of these dump files.

The latest dump file uploaded by you does not contain any information with which I can crosscheck my kernel files. But, it has got Code Corruption because of One_Bit again.

The blamed module is ntfs.sys which is the Windows Driver which handles the NTFS Filesystem Calls. Since it is a Microsoft driver, chance of it being at fault is extremely less.

What was the result of the Memtest? According to the dump files, the RAM is being pointed out.

Let me know how it goes ^_^

Hey Blueelvis,

Thanks for all the help and I am happy you learn something along the way. :)

A few weeks ago i let memtest run overnight 6 passes, last night 8. No problems found. I do like to note that I got 2 different sets of 2x2GB 1333Mhz RAM (8GB total). Same manufactor/type, slightly different number. I am considering getting new RAM, but what are the chances it will fix this? It is the weakest part in my system, but usually RAM upgrades are not rly worth the money. What do you think?
