Solved BSOD while playing games ntoskrnl.exe/hall.dll

currently running windows 8.1, I built my own computer so I know all internal parts work together so that's not an issue but when ever I am playing a game, I listen to music or watch a tv show as well to not get bored on my computer. sometimes the bsod occurs and sometimes I don't get it for several days/weeks so I don't really know what is causing this exactly.. I've tried looking for solutions myself but I can't seem to find a fix so here I am hoping that you fine folks can help me out..

now this is a brand new installation of the OS (just installed literally yesterday) still get the bsod - I've had this issue before on different OS's (all windows 8/8.1) but sometimes they would disappear completely and I forget about them or they just don't ever appear or they start showing up the next couple days after re-installing my OS. I'm always running the same software I do through every OS installation I do as it usually never changes for me and it's never caused me issues before it's just kinda been recently as like within the past few months or so.

anyways my diagnostics are down below.
If you need anymore information or anything just let me know and I'll get back asap with what ever is needed, just hope I can get this fixed once and for all :/

Edit: here is the dump I get from BlueScreenView as well -

Hi Frigid Dreams & Welcome to the forums ^_^,

As we can see from the Dump files, the cause of the crashes, both times was the CPU-Z. I would suggest you to uninstall the CPU-Z from the system.

Let me know how it goes ^_^.

Also, can you find some more information on the driver "abyj.sys" which is present on your system. If you are not able to find any association of it within your system, kindly do a system wide search and upload the Driver File for analysis? Thanks!

I honestly don't have cpu-z installed on my computer other than a portable version (which I put on after a bsod yesterday to get info for another forum) , so I don't know how I could go about uninstalling that, other than deleting the folder as of right now it doesn't show up on any uninstallers for me. I even did a system wide search for cpu-z and all that comes up is the portable version I put on there after the first bsod I uploaded. Maybe I should install it completely (not portable version) so it updates everything for it and then un-install it and clean up everything that is left behind by it possibly? could that work?

Now for the "abyj.sys" file I did a system wide search as I do not know anything about that driver and nothing comes up at all for it so is there anything else I could possibly do for this?

Edit: So I decided to search the registry for cpu-z and low and behold something popped up for it of course.. Weird thing is the image path to where ever it is doesn't exist it shows it as "\??\C:\Users\Hollowed\AppData\Local\Temp\cpuz137\cpuz137_x64.sys" so I'm completely lost. Installing/uninstalling cpu-z doesn't seem to get rid of it, and nothing else is found for cpu-z other than the registry file above.

Hi Frigid Dreams ^_^,

Well I can only tell you what the Dump files are telling me. The path which the Dump files gave me is the below one :-
Code:
5: kd> lmvm cpuz137_x64
start end module name
fffff801`962be000 fffff801`962c7000 cpuz137_x64 T (no symbols)
    Loaded symbol image file: cpuz137_x64.sys
    [B][U]Image path: \??\C:\Users\Hollowed\AppData\Local\Temp\cpuz137\cpuz137_x64.sys[/U][/B]

    Translations: 0000.04b0 0000.04e4 0409.04b0 0409.04e4
This one is the same. I suggest you to check this path and then remove the files. Furthermore, create a system Restore Point and then delete that registry entry.

Well that is strange that there was not a single "abyj.sys" on the system :O . Can you do a registry scan for this driver file? Really grateful that you are helping me find the unknown driver file ^_^

The thing is, is that that location does not exist at all so there isn't anything I can delete. I've looked all up and down my computer everywhere trying to find that location but it's just not there and typing the path into the address bar in the file explorer just brings up errors stating it doesn't exist and cant be found. Now I haven't deleted the registry entry yet but I haven't had a bsod since the last one I posted up either so I dunno if the problem just went away like it sometimes does or what, but if I have another bsod I will delete that entry and see if that possibly fixes it.

I did a registry scan for "abyj.sys" and nothing comes up in the registry for it either even doing a reg scan for just "abyj" didn't bring anything up. it's almost like this file doesn't exist but exists at the same time :s I don't know what else I could do to try and find this.

Wish I didn't have sound problems on the windows 10 tech preview or I'd just go to that and I'd have none of this bsod issue as I never got one while running the tech preview for windows 10 for the few days I did.

Seems like the ABYJ.sys is a dynamic driver.

Furthermore, did you try the path - "C:\Users\Hollowed\AppData\Local\Temp\cpuz137\cpuz137_x64.sys" ?

If the issue happens again, delete the Registry Entry after creating a system restore point. Let me know how it goes ^_^

Yep I tried that path and it just brings up the same error of not being able to find it. I honestly don't know why my computer thinks there is something there when all attempts to actually find it fail :/

Anyways I finally had another blue screen while I was watching a livestream after not having one for a few days, pretty much brought out the same errors as before so I'm not even going to worry about posting all dump stuff. I'm going to create a system restore point and delete the reg entry ( hopefully it doesn't go and mess up even more stuff in the end :s ) and I'll let you know how it goes, hopefully deleting this reg entry will fix my problems once and for all.

Edit: I put up the dump anyways just in case you wanted to see it.

Edit2: so umm I deleted the registry entry for the cpuz137 yesterday, well today I did a scan of my registry to make sure it was still gone and low and behold it came back some how.. I really wish I could figure this out so I just didn't have to worry about it anymore :(

On checking your currently running services, I found the presence of Advanced System Care 8 from IOBIT. I would suggest you to remove this software as this is the one which is adding the entries for CPU-Z. Just installed this software in a Virtual Machine and guess what, the same registry entry was generated!

Remove it ASAP and let me know how it goes ^_^

Ah hmm I never would of guessed that Advanced System Care would have been making that entry as I've been using it for several years now and never had any issues before. :s Might just be because the version I was on is their newest beta versions which has only been out for 2-3 months now and it has checks for temps and all that kinda jazz.

Anyways I removed it and removed the registry entry for cpuz137 and it didn't come back when I restarted my computer so hope this fixes my problem once and for all, only time will tell though :x

I'll probably post back sometimes next week if I don't have any more blue screens by then to let you know if my bsods have been fixed or not. ^^

Well you never know what might happen in the BETA Versions. You could try opening a support ticket and then redirect them to this thread. They should be able to have it fixed.
