Solved BSOD? Only while gaming.

Hey there. This problem has been going on for a few months but I just though that is was not a big deal in the beginning until recently since it's been happening multiple times a day. I cant really say that it's a BSOD since the computer just freezes and show a random color each before either restarting or me having to force shut down. I've tested to see if it was overheating but the numbers came back fine (nothing over 90 degrees Celsius). I had downloaded WhoCrashed and it showed a watchdog violation but just yesterday I formatted my hard drive and did a clean install to check if it would fix but it didn't work and now every time I try to use WhoCrashed, it says that there was no dump file. All of my drivers seem to be up to date so I'm at a loss. Any feedback would be most appreciated.

Hi Lazypity & Welcome to the forums ^_^,

I am extremely sorry for the delay. It is not that you have been ignored but we have been very very busy. Unfortunately, the ZIP File uploaded by you does not contain any Dump files for analysis.

Could you please describe the BSOD or preferably take a camera pic of the Blue Screen?

Could you please run the Hardware Diagnostics over here -
Hardware Diagnostics

Let me know how it goes ^_^.

Hey there blueelvis and thanks for replying. Like I said on the first post, ever since I formatted, dump files just disappeared for me even though I have them enabled.

I was reading on the nvidia forums and found out that there was a few problems with the recent drivers and they suggested to roll back to a specific version (314.22). That itself has definitely slowed down the crashed but they still happen from time to time. When they do happen though, I have almost nothing to go off of since the event log since the only 2 things that appear when it crashes are "The previous system shutdown at *** on ‎*** was unexpected" and "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly".

I don't have a camera available but it's literally just as I already described. the screen goes black for about a second and then goes to a random color that being blue, purple, yellow etc and then the sounds just gets stuck kinda like a bad music CD would. Sometimes the computer restarts by itself but other times (I've notice that this happens when I get a black screen) I have to force shut shutdown with the power switch behind the PC.

The only warnings that I still get on the even logs are "ISCT - CAgentService::AgentServiceInit NetDetect is now disabled since this is not a mobile platform" which I tried to fix by just uninstalling the programs since I have no use for it but after I did that, I started getting this error "The description for Event ID 0 from source RzOvlMon cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer." so I proceeded to just leaving it installed.

As far as hardware goes, I've done temp checks and the highest out of all the hardware was about 85c. I've done memory tests as well and there were no errors found. Just did the video test and after 15:00 minutes, it capped at 86c. As for the other tests, I don't have any CDs ATM so until then, I can't do theses tests.

Thanks again for all of the help. Hopefully we can find a fix for this

Hi LazyPity ^_^,

That sounds like a problem with the Graphics Card of your system. Is your system a desktop?

Can you try this Hardware Diagnostic for the Graphics Card :-

FurMark Video Stress Test - free from here: FurMark: VGA Stress Test, Graphics Card and GPU Stability Test, Burn-in Test, OpenGL Benchmark and GPU Temperature | oZone3D.Net
FurMark Setup:
- If you have more than one GPU, select Multi-GPU during setup
- In the Run mode box, select "Stability Test" and "Log GPU Temperature"
Click "Go" to start the test (Looks like it's "BURN-IN test" now)
- Run the test until the GPU temperature maxes out - or until you start having problems (whichever comes first).
NOTE: Set the alarm to go off at 90ºC. Then watch the system from that point on. If the system doesn't display a temperature, watch it constantly and turn it off at the first sign of video problems. DO NOT leave it it unmonitored, it can DAMAGE your video card!!!
If the temperature gets above 100ºC, quit the test - the video card is overheating.
- Click "Quit" to exit[/quote]
What you are looking for:
- excessive heat from the GPU (report back with anything over 90ºC)
- problems with the video display (picture is distorted or jumbled, picture turns black, etc)
- problems reported by the program (I haven't seen this, but "just in case")

Let me know how it goes ^_^

Hi blueelvis. My computer is indeed a desktop and I already did the FurMark Video Stress Test like I stated above. I let it ran for about 15:00 minutes till the temperature capped at 86c. Nothing happened other than the card reaching that temperature.

Hi Lazypity ^_^,

Could you upload the Complete Memory Dump from the path : "C:\Windows\Memory.DMP" ? It would be a big file so before uploading, kindly make sure that you ZIP it up before uploading using a file hoster like MediaFire, OneDrive etc?

Let me know how it goes ^_^

Hi blueelvis. Everything seems to be working just fine at the moment. Its been about 5 days and no shutdowns. I replaced my GPU with another one that friend had and that did the trick. Thank you for your time and help. Really helped me out in figuring out what was it that I needed to replace.
