When i start a game, usually wow or league, the game doesnt start. The process stays active and I cant shut it off and a couple of minutes later I get the BSOD with the message driver_power_driver_failure. This can also happen when I shut down the pc or I put it in sleep mode. This doesnt happen all the time, I would say it happens around a third of the time.

Thank you,

Jc

Sorry for the delay in responding. There just aren't that many people who do BSOD analysis, so at times we get a bit overwhelmed!
Also, with the debut of Win10, we are extremely busy with it.

Do your still need help with this problem?
I will be notified if you reply to this topic and will respond within 48 hours.

As we can see from the dump file, the bug check was caused by the NVIDIA Display Driver. It appears that you are using a version of the Driver which has not been released by the Manufacturer. For the laptops, it is strongly suggested to use the Drivers for VGA provided by the manufacturers as they tweak the drivers to support the GPU Switching.

Please run the Display Driver Uninstaller from this **LINK**. Once it has finished, reboot your machine and then install the NVIDIA Drivers from this **LINK** (I hope I am correct about your laptop model). Install the drivers and then restart your machine.

Let me know how it goes ^_^.

Thanks alot for the reply.

I already downgraded the graphic card driver and I am going to test it out.

So this means i should not upgrade the driver unless it is realeased by the manufacturer?

In most cases laptop graphics cards have special modifications made to the drivers so that they can work/change between the 2 different graphics cards in the system. As such, it's best to get your graphics drivers from the laptop manufacturer's website.

FWIW - I installed the Intel drivers and the AMD dirvers on my laptop (a Samsung NP780) - and my AMD video card doesn't work!
It turns out that the installer looks for an Intel signature on my AMD driver - and if it doesn't find it, it refuses to install!
