System One

  • OS
    8.1
Please update your UEFI/BIOS using the Gigabyte tool. I've recently seen BSOD's due to outdated UEFI/BIOS - even though they were dated from 2014.

These devices have problems in Device Manager:
VMware Virtual Ethernet Adapter for VMnet1 ROOT\VMWARE\0000 This device is disabled.
VMware Virtual Ethernet Adapter for VMnet8 ROOT\VMWARE\0001 This device is disabled.
Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600 PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0412&SUBSYS_D0001458&REV_06\3&11583659&0&10 43
The VMware devices are disabled. Is this deliberate? If so, why? If not needed, please uninstall VMware. If needed, then please enable the devices and update VMware to the latest, Win8.1 compatible verison. Then feel free to disable them again.

The Intel Device is your Graphics driver. Code 43 is "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems"
Please:
- download a fresh copy of the latest, Win8.1 compatible drivers from the Gigabyte website
- uninstall the current video drivers
- install the freshly downloaded drivers
- monitor for further BSOD's

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions).
Please un-install the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): New link (15 Aug 2012): DuplexSecure - Downloads (pick the appropriate version for your system and select "Un-install" when you run it).
Alternate link: Disk-Tools.com
Manual procedure here: Registry and SPTD problems | DAEMON Pro Help

Please uninstall the Corsair Link software as it's known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems.
Your copy dates from 2008, so it's also likely not even compatible w/Win8.1

Please zip up the contents of C:\Windows\Minidump and upload it with your next post.
You may have to copy it to your Desktop in order to zip it up.

Then, while waiting, please start these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics
If you have trouble booting from a bootable disk, you can run hard drive diagnostics from within Windows, and Prime95 is a good replacement for the bootable memory test.
