Hi Eightforums,

I have been experiencing a few BSOD's yesterday, but most of them today. I have attached the a report from the SF Diagnostic tool. From a bit of research I found out that is could be most likely be a Windows (core file?) or a driver error. As the title suggests I got 3 different errors and they are PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (the one I get most often), ATTEMPTED_WRITE_TO_READONLY_MEMORY and this BAD_POOL_HEADER.
Hopefully that is enough for you to find the error.

Sebie

Please provide this information so we can provide a complete analysis (from the Pinned Topic at the top of the forum): http://www.eightforums.com/bsod-cra...e-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html Please use Option 1 as it provides Event Viewer logs.

If you didn't run the "Grab All", then please do so. If you did run the "Grab All" then the report generator was terminated too early. Please let the app run for at least 15 minutes (or until the app itself says that it's done).

Most of the memory dumps blame ELTIMA Software's Hide My Folders ActiveX driver (HMFAxCore5decdc700443adec5f3e84408e3098ff.sys )Please uninstall this program and see if that stops the BSOD's

Thank you for your reply John. Running another test with SF Diagnostic tool (and hopefully should work this time with the grab all), also looking for a program called Hide My Folder(s), but can't find it only thing close to it would be either: Wise folder Hider or Folder Password Lock Free.
Will edit this post with the ZIP file.

EDIT: Uploaded (waited for it to say, finished). In the folder you will have to folders one from today and one from yesterday, if you need that. The current one if from today, obviously.

Thank you again!

I can't find that driver in an installation of the Wise Folder Hider or the Folder Password Lock Free programs.
I suspect that the driver is a dynamically created driver that gets deleted when the program finishes it's work
Please uninstall both programs (Wise Folder Hider and Folder Passoword Lock Free) and see if the BSOD's stop then.

These devices are disabled. Is this deliberate? If so, why?
avast! SecureLine TAP Adapter v3 ROOT\NET\0000 This device is disabled.
VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter ROOT\NET\0001 This device is disabled.
I'd suggest uninstalling the avast and using a program that doesn't put this junk on your system. The same goes for VirtualBox - and I've had trouble with this adapter on my network at home.

Ok, so uninstalling both folder locking programs and VirtualBox. For avast, I disabled it because it was part of a trail and didn't get around to uninstall it. Also no recent BSOD's, (guess it has really only been a day...)

Thanks again!

After thinking whether or not to post it as a new post or edit the previous, but here goes. So after not having crashes for a day or two. I started to install drivers that were missing and after installing a driver for a certain Intel chipset, my computer will crash after ~ 2 minutes with a error of VIDEO_DXGKRNL_FATAL_ERROR.

Thank you of you find the issue!

Video/DirectX errors tend to be mostly due to video drivers or video hardware
1) Update your video drivers (The Intel, Nvidia, and the switching software from the Toshiba website)
2) Run video hardware (stress) tests: Hardware Diagnostics

Please zip up and post the contents of C:\Windows\Minidump. You may have to copy it to your desktop in order to zip it up.

Ok so got safe mode up and updating both the Intel graphics and the Nvidia. Also attached it the compressed Minidumps. It that what you requested?

The HMFAxCore.....sys driver is blamed in 3 of the last 5 memory dumps.
As it's gone from the latest 2, I'd presume that that is when you uninstalled it (between 9/17 and 9/19)
The latest 2 are DirectX BSOD's - indicating involvement of the video sub-system.

Please:
- ensure that you have ALL Windows Updates
- ensure that you have the latest available nVidia driver available from the Toshiba website - be sure to have ALL updates from after the time that Win8.1 was released (17 Oct 2013).
- ensure that you have blown out the dust from the laptop w/canned air (DO NOT USE a vacuum or an air compressor - it can damage the system components).
- use the laptop on a hard surface with nothing obstructing the vents. A laptop cooling pad is preferred if you have one.

If the BSOD's continue:
- perform these free diagnostics (start with the video tests): Hardware Diagnostics
- run Driver Verifier according to these directions: Driver Verifier Settings

Please uninstall the software for the Logitech Keyboard and GamePanel. I have seen BSOD's caused by the GamePanel software - and the drivers for both of these devices date from 2009 - well before Win8/8.1 came out.
Feel free to download and install the latest Win8.1 compatible version AFTER the system has been stabilized.
