Hiya BSOD wizards!

After diagnosing and fixing a few problems, I just had these two BSODs in quick succession -- the earlier while playing a Steam game, the later after Windows pushed an update.

Could anyone help me with a good course of action?

Thanks! -- H

Please provide this information so we can provide a complete analysis (from the Pinned Topic at the top of the forum): http://www.eightforums.com/bsod-cra...e-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html Please use Option 1 as it provides Event Viewer logs.

One of the memory dumps blames uxstyle.sys. Please uninstall the program related to this driver. This is most likely the UXStyle program from The Within Network ( UxStyle )

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Re. advice

Hi,

Thanks for the advice! I removed the UXStyle software, and updated the keyboard and mouse drivers (dc3d.sys).

As for NvStreamKms.sys, which is related to the NVidia GPU, I've followed advice here:

BSOD probably due to driver but unable to identify which one - Microsoft Community

And rolled back to an earlier driver.

I created a restore point and am going to try re-applying the latest update.

I followed your instructions and have attached the dumps in the format requested.

Best,

H

Any further memory dumps after removing UXStyle and rolling back the nVidia drivers?
I'm late for work, but will try to get back to you this afternoon with an analysis of the additional reports.

Hi & thanks for getting back.

I had quite a few problems yesterday after going through all the updates - various BSOD on running Prime95 and errors during Memtest.

This eventually led to me resetting the CMOS via the jumper, QFlashing the BIOS (Gigabyte Z97) and following that, Prime95 ran for 2+ hours with no problems.

I'll run Memtest again during the day and see what happens, I'll post any further BSOD here.

Best,

H

Interesting, I don't normally even suggest looking for UEFI/BIOS updates if yours currently dates from 2014.
Nice find tho' - I'll have to remember that when dealing with the Gigabyte Z97 boards!

From the last uploaded reports.....

Only 52 Windows Updates installed. Most systems have 70 to 90 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

Don't worry about the specific number, it's just important that you have checked and installed any updates that were available (and didn't experience any errors).

The WER section of MSINFO32 shows a lot of Windows Update failures. If you're still experiencing them, I suggest you post over in the Windows Updates & Activation forum: Windows Updates & Activation - Windows 8 Forums

I've seen quite a few problems with Plex Media Server - but not enough to call it a BSOD cause.
Still, if possible, remove it (just in case).
If you can't remove it, then ensure that you have the latest, Win8.1 compatible version installed

MSI Afterburner and Riva Tuner (along with EVGA Precision) are known to cause BSOD's in some Windows systems (it's driver is usually RTCore64.sys). Please un-install them immediately!

If you're overclocking, please stop the overclock while we're troubleshooting. Feel free to resume the overclock once the system has been stabilized.
