Solved Random BSODs and restarts

I recently reinstalled my Windows twice because of stability issues and have now been experiencing random bluescreens and restarts. We've been trying to solve this for days, even had a guy stress test it for over 30 hours but he didn't have any BSODs then.. Now I've got it back and the problems persist. I already checked peripherals so they are ruled out (I think).

EDIT: I use Windows 8.1 64 bit and have all the latest updates.

I have included the results of the SF Diagnostic Tool.

Please help.

And again, different BSOD this time.

I have included another SF dump zip.

I'll stop here unless anybody asks ;)

I understand that this is a very important problem for you and that you'd like it solved as soon as is possible. But there are other circumstances that you may not be aware of. Please read this pinned topic about waiting for a response: http://www.eightforums.com/bsod-crashes-debugging/48165-have-you-been-waiting-response.html

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions).
Please un-install the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): New link (15 Aug 2012): DuplexSecure - Downloads (pick the appropriate version for your system and select "Un-install" when you run it).
Alternate link: Disk-Tools.com
Manual procedure here: Registry and SPTD problems | DAEMON Pro Help

Please note the drivers below that date from before the release of Windows 8.1 (17 Oct 2013) - check to see that each and every one is compatible w/Windows 8.1 (at the manufacturer's website). If not, you must either remove the device and it's software - or locate a Windows 8.1 compatible update on the web. Removing some drivers may make the system unstable - so if you're unable to find updates, post back for info on the one's that can/cannot be safely removed.

The drivers that are [DEL]struckout[/DEL] don't have updates available (AFAIK).

If all of this doesn't stop the BSOD's, please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings
Also, as time allows, please run these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics
Please let us know the results when you're done.

Thanks for the reply, usasma. I already read the 'waiting for a response' thread, I'm sorry if I came across as impatient, I just thought I'd provide more information to work with.

I removed Daemon Tools and verified that the sptd.sys driver was deleted.

I also reinstalled the latest driver relating to rdwm1135.sys.

I removed Speedfan as well.

All the VM related drivers are up to date, as well as the Intel Management Interface drivers (TeeDriverx64.sys)

I already ran Driver Verifier before I first posted here, strangely it did not trigger a BSOD at the time. Maybe I should run it for a longer period of time.

My hardware guy also did over 30 hours of stress testing with Prime and Valley.

It may be worth noting that I rarely have a BSOD when just browsing the internet etc, it happens faster when I play video games or work in a VM.

I included another .zip from a BSOD after I removed/updated the drivers you listed.

I'm going to try replacing the PSU now, it's one of the last things I haven't tried yet.

Big thank you for your time!

When I see a topic that's bumped, I automatically post that link - it helps to let people know why we're not getting to their topic.
My main point there is that bumping can actually make it take longer until we reply to your topic :(

I suggest running Driver Verifier for 36 hours, but that's just a guess on my part (I guessed this because it's most likely to catch events that may be triggered every 24 hours or are triggered at a certain time of day)

Sometimes Driver Verifier won't cause an error. In these cases we usually move on to checking hardware and Windows for problems.

In the past I've noticed a lot of problems with virtual machine software (in particular VMWare and VirtualBox). More recently I found problems with Virtual Box on my own system (but not BSOD's). I still have to wonder if the VMWare software has it's own problems.

My solution for Virtual Box on my system was to only run it when needed - and to shut the software off when I'm not using it.
This seems to have eliminated my problems with virtual machine software.
I wonder if this same approach may help you?

I've also seen lot's of issues with USB Audio. The software that you updated left the same driver version on the system.
If the VM stuff doesn't fix the BSOD's, then I'd suggest removing the software for the Roland Duo-Capture Ex ( Roland CONNECT - DUO-CAPTURE EX: USB Audio Interface ) and then physically remove the device from the computer and see if that's the problem.

You can also try the USB audio device on another computer to see if it causes problems there. If so, then a hardware problem may be the cause.

Good luck!

Okay we're 6 days later and I tried another bunch of stuff.

I enabled Driver Verifier again and my system actually ran a lot more stable... strangely enough.

I only had one BSOD so far while running the Virtual Machine, I didn't have it open the other 40+ times. I also need it for work so only running it when needed wouldn't solve it :p However I don't think the VM software is the problem.

I already tested the USB Audio Interface on another computer, also still had BSODs when I uninstalled it completely. So that is ruled out as well.

So with drivers sort of ruled out, it had to be either Windows or an obscure hardware error (since stress testing for 36 hours with Prime, Furmark and Valley (even at the same time) did not trigger a single BSOD.

So, I did a complete reinstall of my system again, this time with the internet cable unplugged so Windows would not download a bunch of drivers and stuff automatically in the background (I hate that it does this, goes against the transparency of Windows that I've grown to love). After doing this the BSODs happened a lot less often but it still wasn't fixed.

We then flashed the firmware of my GPU (MSI GeForce 660 GTX TwinFrozr III) to a newer version and since then I haven't had any crashes, restarts or BSODs! So it would appear that (+ maybe some other worsening factors) was the problem.

Thanks a bunch again for your help though! It was a long ride but I'm glad it's solved ;)

Thanks for letting us know!
I'm not well-versed in GPU firmware, so it's likely that I never would have thought of it!
Thanks for finding this and for letting us know about it!
Great work!
