BSOD during games, multiple error codes, memory related?

Hi guys. I've had my computer for around 4 years now and I have always had this bug that I have been unable to resolve. In the past, I had no idea what to do is the computer would just freeze up and not go to blue screen, However, since upgrading to Windows 8.1 it has been giving me a blue screen and error message that gave me the idea to start searching for what could be wrong. I am positive the errors over the years have all been by the same, as what causes them and what occurs after is always the same. After booting up, if I decide to play a game, practically any that require 3-d graphics, the game will start to slow down and the audio will start to crackle. Then, the computer will freeze up. When I ran Windows Vista it just stayed frozen, but now during Windows 8.1 it goes to blue screen and shuts off. After rebooting, everything runs perfectible normally and I can run any game perfectly without slowdown or freezing. Then, after shutting down and rebooting another day the same problem will arise. It's not necessarily the worst error, but I don't quite like leaving my computer in sleep mode as it still drains some power. From what I gathered for Blue Screen View, it seems to be a memory issue. The first error code I received when using Windows 8.1 was PFN list corrupt. That prompted me to test and reseat the ram. Windows Memory Diagnostic came out clean, but the error persists. The latest time I have had this problem, the error was Memory Management, 0x0000001a.

I have updated the BIOS to latest version and have overclocked my RAM, however, the problem existed before O.C.

Sorry if the format of the post is off, first time here. Thanks in advance for your assistance. :)

As this has occurred over a number of different OS installs, I'd have to suspect hardware. Please run these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics

If you're overclocking, please stop the overclock while we're troubleshooting. Feel free to resume the overclock once the system has been stabilized.

Your BIOS dates from 2011. This may mean that the system may not be able to handle Win8/8.1 (but that remains to be seen). We'll continue to troubleshoot this, but there may come a point where you decide that it's just not worth it and will have to revert to Win7.

You have a TP-LINK 150Mbps Wireless Lite N Adapter
I do not recommend using wireless USB network devices. Especially in Win8/8.1 systems.
These wireless USB devices have many issues with Win7 and later - using Vista drivers with them is almost sure to cause a BSOD.
Should you want to keep using these devices, be sure to have Win8/8.1 drivers - DO NOT use Vista drivers!!!
An installable wireless PCI/PCIe card that's plugged into your motherboard is much more robust, reliable, and powerful.

Quite a few Live Kernel Events and some possible hardware issues in the WER section of MSINFO32.
Please do the following:
- open Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from the "Run" dialog))
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

FYI - If we're looking for Event ID 41 errors (unexplained shutdowns), there's more info on that here: Windows Kernel event ID 41 error "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first" in Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows 7, or Windows Server 2008 R2

While waiting for a reply, please monitor your temps with this free utility: HWMonitor CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting

The memory dumps don't show a lot, and it takes at least 4 or 5 to see a hardware pattern (actually it's a lack of a pattern that shows that it's likely to be hardware/low-level drivers). ALso, the relatively few 3rd party drivers present in the memory dump are also a possible indicator of a hardware/Windows problem. Make sure that you have ALL available Windows Updates.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Beyond this, as there were only 2 memory dumps in the upload, I have these 3 suggestions:

2. Start with these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics
3. Run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

Thank you for your prompt response. I have updated the driver for my usb wireless card, and will look into getting a PCI card in the future; I did not know that they were unstable. Unfortunately, I was not able to find an update for the Asus driver. I could not find any Asus programs currently installed on my drive; when I had the computer on Vista it came with some suite of software but I have since wiped my hardrive as well as done a fresh upgrade to Windows 8.1, so I cannot find anything in the control panel programs list relating to Asus. As you advised against manually deleting the driver I do not know how to proceed in regards to this.

In regards to driver verifier, I ran it twice and came up with two dumps attached. As for Windows according to Windows Update I am 100% up-to-date. I have also posted the admin event log as requested. In the meantime, I am going to try to get some more dumps of the crashes without driver verifier running as you said that 2 was not necessarily enough to deduce the problem.

Thank you for your continued assistance with my troubleshooting.

Please realize that what's a problem in the BSOD world is not necessarily what's a problem in the rest of the world.
For example, my son uses a wireless USB network device and has no problems with it.
But I have found these devices to be associated w/BSOD's in some Windows systems often enough that I make this warning automatically (whenever I see a wireless USB device). They (the BSOD issues) were much more common in Windows 7 than they are in Windows 8.

The Asus drivers aren't normally a problem, but we worry about them because of their age.
In this case, we just wait and see what happens. Should further evidence point to these drivers, then I'll suggest a manual removal of the driver (and then I'll post instructions on how to do it).

There is no firm criteria for diagnosing hardware issues through the types of BSOD's. In most cases, if you have a lot of different BSOD's, it's most often due to hardware. But we also look at the results of the debugger when making this diagnosis - looking at the stack text for other drivers and for commands and entries that may reveal BSOD's shortly after issues with user-level function (rather than the typical kernel-level functions)

Also, Driver Verifier can help to isolate things, but it's not a diagnostic tool for hardware. Rather I use it to help rule out hardware and to see if there are additional factors present that we may not be aware of (and this doesn't include the possibilities of Windows problems - which is a lesser chance, but still is a possibility).

In this case, Driver Verifier doesn't blame a 3rd party driver, so hardware is still likely.
Primarily the crash seems to center around networking functions - so there's a lot to check there.
Start by checking the wireless device itself.
- it's driver dates from before 8.1 came out - so we have to wonder about it's compatibility (check the website to see if it specifies 8.1 compatibility)
- remove the wireless USB device and it's software. Use a wired connection temporarily (to see if this stops the BSOD's). If you don't have access to a wired connection, then try another wireless device. Worst case, purchase one from a place that will let you return it for a refund if it's not needed.

swi_callout.sys - this driver hasn't been added to the DRT as of this run. Please search Google/Bing for the driver if additional information is needed.

The AsUpIO.sys driver also appeared in these memory dumps. If it appears again in future dumps, I'll suspect it even more strongly and will suggest the manual removal.

If you have manually overclocked the system, please remove the overclock. It's only (AFAIK) the TurboBoost overclock that's stable with the i7 and i5 processors. Feel free to restore the overclock once we've stabilized the system.
