Just built a system a little over a month ago and put windows 8.1 pro 64bit on it because it's the newest OS and I'm getting ready to leave for college so I put what I figured was the best OS on it. I'm having bsod's probably every half hour to an hour when I'm doing basic things, even just sitting on the desktop. I've flashed the bios, downloaded and installed all new drivers for every component from the asus website, and made sure all my settings in the bios are accurate to reflect the capabilities of my hardware. Also, nothing is overclocked.

The BSOD's I'm having are system_service_exception and ntfs_file_system. I downloaded and installed the 64bit version of bluescreenview and ntoskrnl.exe consistently shows up as the faulting module. I'm not sure how to post minidumps but if someone could give me tips on how to do that, I'd be more than happy to attach them (I'm fairly new to building PCs and troubleshooting these kinds of issues).

My PC specs are as follows:

Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z mobo
AMD FX9590 cpu (noctua nh-d14 cooler)
32gb kit of G.Skill ripjaws 2133mhz (downclocked to 1866mhz)
AMD Radeon R9 290x
1000watt 80plus gold certified corsair psu

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated as I am trying to get this computer running stable before I leave for college in a little under a month. Thanks in advance.

Please follow the below steps one step at a time and then check for BSOD's :-

  1. Please visit the link for the driver highlighted in RED and then delete the software associated with it which is given in the link.
  2. Please disable Samsung Kies till the time we are troubleshooting.
  3. There is no proper cause or a driver (Apart from the RED one) which I could see from the dumps, so could you please run the Memtest to test the RAM for no shorter than 8 passes using this guide :- RAM - Test with Memtest86+ - Windows 7 Help Forums
  4. If the above test comes clean then please start with the Hardware Diagnostics.

Also, is there any specific way you get the BSOD or is it just completely random? If you are still getting issues then please run the SF Diagnostic Tool and let it run for atleast 15 minutes or till the time it says that it has completed.

Let me know how it goes ^_^.

thanks for responding with some advice :D

completely cleared my system of all AMD related software/drivers and reinstalled only the drivers, so that took care of point 1.
ran memtest86+ and everything was fine, no errors on any of the sticks after repeated passes, I'm currently trying to work my way through the hardware diagnostics but I just had a couple more BSODs (attached the dumps to this post)...I've found that I can force the system to BSOD if I run the League of Legends client and let it update (peer to peer downloading the update), if that is at all helpful. Both of the recent BSOD's have been when I am running the League of Legends client.

also, if it's worth mentioning, I can't ever update the drivers for the onboard intel 82583V because it continues to say that there are no intel components present in the PC and therefore can't update them.

Hi there,

I see that many times the NTFS.sys is present in the stack in your latest dump files. I would suggest you to check your filesystem for any corruption. Follow the below guide and see if this fixes or not :-

Guide - How to fix corrupted files on Windows - Microsoft | DSLReports Forums

Make sure you follow everything to the point.

If it is still not helping then please run Driver Verifier according to this guide :-
Using Driver Verifier to identify issues with Drivers - Windows 7 Help Forums

Let the driver verifier run for at least 36 hours. Keep doing what you do normally and see if it crashes or not.

I ran chkdsk with /f and /r parameters and it continually hangs up on 10%.... the more I think about the issues I've been having, the more I think it points to a faulty HDD so I'm going to check with Newegg and see if there's something I can do to quickly RMA the drive and see if that helps

Sometimes it may seem that it has hanged but let it run for a while. Also, let the Driver Verifier run for atleast 36 hours for a minimum. Start with the following guide for the HDD Diagnostics and report back :-
