I got a new laptop, and pretty much immediately after initial set up I shut my laptop, the next time I tried to open it it showed the BSOD, it has the error, system_thread_exception_not_handled (iastora.sys). After it does the restart my computer runs fine. I followed the directions and included the file, but if anything else is needed please let me know.

Only 69 WindowsUpdates installed. Most systems have 160 or more. Please visit Windows Updateand get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

All your 5 dumpfiles blames Probably caused by : iaStorA.sys ( iaStorA+4f3ad )

This is the driver for Intel Rapid storage Technology.

For the latest windows 8.1 driver for your model see here Software & driver downloads HP ENVY 17-j020us Quad Edition Notebook PC | HP® Support

If you already have this version the driver might be corrupted. Please remove/uninstall your current driver and reinstall the latest driver from the above HPpage.

If this also do not stop the bsod then you can try to install the latest generic driver from Intel, do not known if this works on a HPmodel, because OEMs like HP some time uses custom made drivers.

Hi nan22 & Lifetec,

@Lifetec :- Plain Uninstalling the Intel Rapid Storage could not solve the problem and it may even get worse. Please bookmark this guide and post this link whenever the problem related to the Intel Rapid Storage occurs ;)

Uninstalling the Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology driver - Microsoft Community

@Nan22,

Please follow lifetec's advice and uninstall the above driver using the above guide IF YOU ARE NOT ABLE to find an update for this either through your OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer)/Intel.
