Hey guys, should have turned to you a while back.... well, you cant stop arrogance I guess ?
Quick rundown, bought the ASUS G75VW almost two years ago, ran a treat. It is basically a downloading and streaming machine. I work away, so when I am home (one week out of three), the laptop stays on continuously, usually downloading. I've monitored heat, have an external fan mounted and have had no problems with the ASUS.
The laptop does however, have multiple external hard drives running off it (all WD's and all with their own power supply), through a USB3.0 Hub and also one of its other three usb3.0 ports (I currently have 5 externals...yea, I know)....
Windows 7pro+media centre, ran fine and about 12 months ago, I upgraded the 16GB's of RAM to 32GB's, utilising the other two ram slots and I also upgraded the two HDD's to 2x 1TB SSD units. It has all run an utter dream for ages, until maybe the last couple of months, where I started to get the BSOD and various memory dumps. Sometimes there would be a 'page fault error' sometimes there would be nothing. They happened infrequently, so after a restart, it would be ok. Then a couple of weeks ago, it became ridiculous, it would fail three times before booting up, it wouldn't even let me boot up into safe mode.
I thought it might be software, so I installed windows 8pro, upgraded to 8.1+media centre (two days ago)... its crashed twice now, but with the same reason: KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE
Sorry if I've gone into too much detail, but i'm desperate as I have a lot of valuable info that I don't want to have to move and format and lose etc
Thx
