I have Dell Laptop XPS L501X and installed Windows 8 Consumer Preview. Every time I power on my laptop, i am unable to access my Wifi Internet connection at first place and I need to restart my laptop. On Restarting, It displays the message "DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE". After restarting my Laptop, the Internet connection works fine.
The problem is.... I have to Restart my laptop every time i power it on. Otherwise I am unable to use my internet connection.

Is there any solution to this problem..?? where without Restarting my laptop I can use my Internet connection..... Any help will be useful...

Waiting for your replies....

For some reason, I don't think that such a newer driver would cause the power failure issue.

C:\Windows\Minidump

Copy the files in there to any other folder, then zip or rar them. Attach the zip or rar here and we will see what driver is actually throwing fits, along with its date.

Your Belkin network hub driver is too old for Windows 8. If the manufacturer doesn't have a newer driver, you'll have to remove that from the system so this old driver is not loaded:

Code:
sxuptp sxuptp.sys Tue Jul 01 05:53:37 2008

------------

Visit Intel.com so it auto scans your machine and updates the storage driver and HECI driver:

Synaptics driver needs an update:

Code:

This driver should not be on the system. I would find a utility that clears all NVIDIA files, video and chipset, then use in safe mode. Reboot and install latest video driver from NVIDIA:

Code:

Your wireless network driver needs an update from the manufacturer:

And finally, you have VirtualBox installed and that is incompatible with Windows 8 at this time. That should be completely uninstalled.

Please tell me one more thing. You told me Virtual Box is not compatible with Win 8, so please tell me how can i run Win XP virtually on my Lappy. When I do not want to use the default Hyper V environment provided by Win 8.

The version number doesn't really matter since I've given you the dates of them. If you still want to check version numbers for any reason, right click the bottom left of the screen. Choose Device Manager. Then right click on any device and choose properties. Then go to the Driver tab.

Anyhow, I linked to the wireless driver in my last post that can be installed. It's a good update from what you have now.

Of course it's fine. Besides, it's not my forum. I enjoy helping and do, but everyone else is welcome to post at any time about anything.

Good luck and please let us know how things are going. There are a lot of issues and/or potential issues there above. Nothing too difficult to try to correct though. If you ever get to where you think things are stable, you can probably leave it at that to see how long it goes well, keeping in mind the things you haven't done yet.

You're welcome. This method of checking the drivers really is not how to go about things. The best way is to visit the manufacturers' sites and compare the latest download to what you have.

If you have new crashes from here forward, you are welcome to post the logs the same as you've done before. We can then check on the progress or lack thereof.

Yes i did updated the drivers from the respective manufacture corporations. I checked the list of device and their updation from Device Manager AFTER performing the necessary updations.
Now, I do not get the "Driver_Power_State_Failure" error message. But, i still the face the problem of my Internet Connection (Access to Websites "Unable to find Server") not being Accessed at the 1st place. I still need to restart my Lappy to access my Internet connection.

This is really annoying... How can i check, what is causing the problem??
