Hey ! I have Acer laptot with Intel i5-3230M processor and internal Intel HD Graphics 4000 + external Nividia GeForce 740M. I were just playing a game (Runescape with low graphics if its relevant) and i got a BSOD, title tells the name. Can anyone tell me what causes this sort of BSOD. I have had this computer now like 5 months and i havent had a single BSOD so far. A little help and tips how generally fix these kind of BSOD would be nice. Is there even a fix on these besides sending back to store and ask them fix it ?

I edited my message a little after i got a new BSOD with the same name but it there was no .sys in the end. Ill try to send the info about it.

Thanks.

Hi Jaakobstad,

Even if there are no dump files at this moment could you please post the SF Diagnostic Log File by following the instructions found over here :-

http://www.eightforums.com/bsod-cra...e-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html

It would enable us to at least see what is under the hood and help you solve it. In the mean time make sure that the generation of Dump files is enabled in Windows :-

Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD - Windows 7 Help Forums

Configure your system to make it generate the Small Memory Dumps (Minidumps). Yes, there is of course a fix for the Blue Screen Of Deaths ^_^ although some are more time consuming than others etc. ^_^

I see presence of 2 anti virus components i.e. Avast & Norton(Partial Components Present). Please remove the Norton Completely using this **TOOL** . Furthermore, the cause of the crash is "L1C63x64.sys" which is the Qualcomm Atheros AR8151 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.30) driver as it is present in the stack before the NDIS driver and also is old enough as it dates back to 2012.

But, before you upgrade the Driver for your card, please remove the Norton components. Please update the rest of the drivers using above links and the Windows Update ^_^.

In case the issue is still not solved, I would be glad to help you out.

Hey ! Thanks for the response !

Few questions, that dump analysis u posted says this "Process name: JagexLauncer." Does it mean that this "JagexLauncher" is the process that caused the driver failure ? If so do you think it would be fixed if i started playing the game in browser when it would use Java ?

2nd question: How can i update my Qualcomm Atheros AR8151 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.30) driver becouse when i try to update it with windows update it says its up to date. I tried through the link u gave me but this is where i end up Drivers for Atheros AR8151 and Windows 7 and those drivers are for win7.

Thanks for the help in advance :)

EDIT: I did remove norton !

The process name means that the Blue Screen occured when that process was running. Are you getting BSOD only when you launch this game?

Go to this link :-
Qualcomm ATHEROS Network drivers for Windows

Under the AR8151 row, you should see the option to download Windows 8 Drivers (32/64 bit).
Are you getting BSOD after removing Norton?

I dont know if the BSOD comes when only playing this game but im pretty sure its not it. I have been playing this game like over a month for now and played several hours a day. 0 BSODS until yesterday. I got my first BSOD after my computer has been flawless for 5 months of total use and 1 month of this game. It was totally unexpected.
I couldnt find any newer drivers for the Qualcomm, dont know if its only me or if there really isnt newer drivers. I dont know if BSOD still appears after i removed Norton since the BSOD wasnt very common. It comes up like every 20 hours. Today i were able to play the game many hours and im playing the game atm without BSOD. Sometimes it just randomly pops up and restarst my computer.
Do you really think that Norton could have been behind this becouse i have had that norton online back up for pretty long time. I havent downloaded anything new in like month. I had 0 BSOD's 5 days ago when i left for vacation. Yesterday when i got back i suddenly got one and today another one.
Hopefully my story gives helps you to try to solve this :)

Thanks.

Hi Jaakobstad,

If you are still getting the Blue Screens, please re run the Diagnostic Tool and upload the recent dump files as they need to be analyzed further. Also, I noticed several Registry Leak events from Avast with Internet Connections being one of them in the Event Log :-
TIEDOT -

. If you are still getting BSOD, then please remove the Avast Antivirus using this **TOOL** and report back your findings ^_^.

Only remove the Avast, if you are still getting BSOD after removing the Norton. If not receiving the errors then I don't think that would be required.

Looking forward to your update ^_^.

Hey ! Im back home and i had no BSOD's while staying on my cousins house and using wireless. Now when i got back and plugged my wire, after like 10 hours of playtime i got BSOD. Same name, but there was (Ndis.sys) after it this time. I deleted my Avast now with the tool but i see there is still left atleast one driver from avast. (aswHwid avast! HardwareID Kernel). Copied that straight from my list of drivers. Should i be worried about that driver ? I will update you again if i get BSOD after deleting Avast. What antivirus should i use from now on or should i just stick with the windows defender ?

I'll attach new SF file after i got that Ndis.sys Blue Screen. Hopefully you can give me some helpful info again :)

Thanks !

Hi,

It seems that you are getting the BSOD's only when you plug in an Ethernet Wire. The driver for your Ethernet Controller which I suggested in my above post must be downloaded and installed in the following manner. Please note that the instructions might be a bit wrong but in case you have any problem do post back here ^_^.

1. Download the driver from here and extract the ZIP file to a safe location for Windows 8 :- Qualcomm ATHEROS Network drivers for Windows

2. Press Windows button and then type in Device Manager, it would be most likely found under the Settings tab if not found directly. Open it up.

3. Under the Network Adapters dropdown list, right click your Ethernet Controller.

4. Click on "Update Driver Software" and then click on "Browse My Computer For Driver Software"

5. Point the location to the folder where you have extracted the ZIP file and then make sure the tick is there for "Include Subfolders" in case you have it extracted inside a folder inside that location.

6. Click on "NEXT".

7. Windows should find the driver software and update it appropriately.

Let me know in case you face any problem. I think we should deal with this driver first before dealing with the Avast Now, as even your Event Logs suggest that the service has been removed.

Do, one thing, do you get any option for Roll Back Driver when you go into the Properties of your Network Card from Device Manager under the "Driver" Tab? If yes, then try doing that. If you don't have that option then uninstall the driver from there and then restart the Windows to see if it fixes the issue or not.

Leave it like that only and check whether you are still experiencing any BSOD's or not. In case of further BSOD, please do not hesitate to post back the latest SF Diagnostic Zip for further analysis ^_^.

Hey !

It has been around a week now and 0 BSOD's ! Downgrading my Ethernet Wire thingy drivers to older ones and deleting Avast! from my computer solved the problem. Im not sure if the problem was caused by Avast! or the new driver that i had to downgrade. Anyways the problem is now solved and HUGE thanks goes to Blueelvis from helping me out. Thank you :)
