I own a dell precision m6800. For about 3 weeks now I have been experiencing a lot of BSOD almost everyday. Sometimes without doing anything the laptop bluescreens. I have tried restoring to factory setting but BSOD keeps occuring. I downloaded the bluescreenview and i see most of the bsod are caused by ntoskrnl.exe. I will include the dumps in a rar. Please help me. This is really frustrating.

SPECS:
Dell Precision m6800
Intel core i7 4800MQ @ 2.7GHz
32GB DDR3 RAM
Intel HD 4600 Graphics
Nvidia Quadro k4100m 4GB

Please provide this information so we can provide a complete analysis (from the Pinned Topic at the top of the forum): http://www.eightforums.com/bsod-cra...e-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html Please use Option 1 as it provides Event Viewer logs.

As you have restored the OS and are still experiencing BSOD's, start with these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics Often problems that continue after reinstalling Windows are caused by hardware problems.

Let's start with HotSpotShield. It is known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems (although I haven't seen any previously with this version of the driver). Please uninstall it to see if that helps stop the BSOD's.

The other driver that I suspect is the tap0901.sys. It's a part of the TAP-Win32 Adapter and is usually associated with some sort of USB modem. In this case the driver dates from 2011 and is likely not compatible with Win8. Please download and install an updated copy that is compatible with Win8.

I can't tell if you have 2 antivirus' installed. If you do, please uninstall one of them immediately. There should only be one antivirus and one firewall active in memory at a time - more than that can cause problems with the system as they will compete with each other.

If these drivers don't fix the problem, then it's most likely (IMO) a hardware problem. So continue with the hardware diagnostics. FYI - the reports I requested in the first paragraph are still needed as they may reveal other issues that need to be fixed.

Please make sure that Driver Verifier is turned off. It's purpose is to cause BSOD's, so we don't need it doing that any longer.

Thanks for the reports!

Only 1 Windows Update installed. Most systems have 160 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

HotSpotShield was still installed when you generated these reports. Please ensure that it's uninstalled (you can feel free to reinstall the latest, Win8 compatible version AFTER we've stabilized the system).

I'm uncertain about the Buffalo NAS, I seem to recall issues with it a while back - but cannot locate anything significant with an internet search. If you don't rely on this software/device you may want to uinstall it in order to test it (you can feel free to reinstall the latest, Win8 compatible version AFTER we've stabilized the system). If this device was installed/connected while reinstalling Windows, it may be that it is the cause - so it's important to remove it in order to test.

Good luck!

So it took about 2-3 days to get the memtest done. It did 8 passes with no error. I did a Dell diagnostics Test on all components and there were errors with one of the hard drives which is a seagate. I tried a short test with seatools on the drive and there was a failure. Am doing a long fix all test on the drive to see what happens.

It's been my experience that fixing a hard drive that way is a temporary measure.
If the problems come back, then it's time to replace it.
At work we just replace them rather than fix them - it's a lot more reliable in the long run.

Good luck!
