I just bought a brand new Asus g750jm-bsi7n23 and I keep getting a BSOD called DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE which is being caused by ntoskrnl.exe. It is getting really irritating, because I just dished out $1,300 on a new laptop and it has already crashed 3-4 times. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Here is the dump file:

i am currently having the same problem i just bought the computer a month ago. i don't know if this has anything to do with it but in the event log at the time of crash i get critical kernal-power error 41. i have tried going to my drivers to see if any have an exclamation point showing they are out of date but they all say up to date.

So you get the same laptop from Best Buy too? Are you thinking about returning it for a replacement, or do you think you are going to hold on to it regardless of the crashes? I am also having problems with the left subwoofer, it keeps dropping in and out. Are you having this problem too? This is my first gaming laptop, so I'm not sure if I should return it for a new one or not.

I'm not having any problems other than the driver power state failure.. and I won't be able to bring it back to best buy for a couple weeks so I was hoping someone could answer with a fix so I wouldn't have to wait.

Sorry for the delay in responding. There just aren't that many people who do BSOD analysis, so at times we get a bit overwhelmed!

For both of you:

A DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE error can be either hardware or software. With Parameter 1 being a 3 (as yours is), we'll need to look at the memory dumps in order to see if it specifically names a driver or not.

An Event ID 41 error is simply that Windows doesn't know why it shut down. It can be caused by BSOD's, by overheating/hardware problems, or even by holding the power button down to shut the system off. An examination of the Event Viewer logs (System and Admin) can help to diagnose these.
