Windows 8 won't let me have access to bios

Hi everyone, I have Win7 and wanted to try Win8, so I made a 30 GB partition using the win7 disk utility and installed win8. Everything went fine and I played with the new OS for 3 days. The problem is that the other day I turned on my pc and the monitor didn't display anything and from that moment my monitor always goes into sleep mode. It seems like the monitor doesn't get the input from the pc and the problem has to be related to the pc, because I tried other functioning monitors and they all give the same problem. I can't even display the bios page.. Nothing. Please, help me, I don't want to loose my pictures and documents stored in win7.

Hi,

No matter the outcome, what you've described in no way will harm or delete any files. So you can forget about that aspect of worrying. Your files are safe.

The reason this could be happening is because your video card is damaged, but that is unlikely. Must be considered though.

If your motherboard has a video output on it, attach a monitor to that while powered off. Also while powered off, remove the video card from the machine physically.

See how it goes. If everything works well, we can then look into why the video card itself is not working well.

Another thng you could try instead is to reset the bios to factory settings. If you do this though, you might run into problems created that only an experienced user will know how to fix. So please be aware of that.

Many motherboards have a jumper to set or a button to push to reset the bios.

You could also pull the round silver battery out carefully for a few seconds then replace it, to reset the bios.

But like I said, this can casue you more issues than solve if you aren't very experienced. So try my first solution if you feel safer.

Oh and by the way, in those 3 days I only used Windows 8 Consumer Preview (never windows 7), and haven't installed any third-party software.. I only used the OS without changing system settings or whatever.. Thank you all for any reply, and I hope you'll excuse my poor English

Unfortunately my motherboard doesn't have a video output where I can plug the VGA connector for my monitor. It interfaces with it through my graphic card. I don't know, I'm not that good in hacking this stuff, so I guess I'll ask a technician hoping it won't cost me a lot..
