DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (9f) on boot, sleep, hibernate

Looks like I can reboot ok but shutdown, sleep or hibernate is now causing BSOD. This all started about a week ago.
I have updated a bunch of drivers and tried a few things to no avail. I was going to try to do th Win 8.1 refresh but I am getting a disk drive locked error. I would rather try to fix this than reinstall all my apps, plus who knows if a refresh would fix it. Please help if you can. I am a one man consulting company and this is really making life difficult and stressful. Thanks in advance.
Dave

Hi Bigdave And Welcome to the forums ^_^,

I have analyzed your older and newer dump files as well. Since, you have updated the Intel Rapid Storage Drivers I don't think that it is the root cause of the BSOD's even though all of the DUMP files (Newer and older) point towards the "iastorv.sys" . Below is a list of drivers which date back in the 2012. The drivers in RED must be updated with highest priority. :-
AiCharger.sys Fri Sep 23 07:34:40 2011 :- Driver Reference Table
ASMMAP64.sys Thu Jul 02 14:43:26 2009 :- Driver Reference Table
ASUSTP.sys 2012 :- Driver Reference Table
atkwmiacpi64.sys Wed Sep 07 07:14:52 2011 :- Driver Reference Table - atkwmiacpi64.sys
DptfDevDram DptfDevDram.sys Fri Sep 07 06:46:57 2012 (50494B09)
DptfDevFan DptfDevFan.sys Fri Sep 07 06:47:43 2012 (50494B37)
DptfDevGen DptfDevGen.sys Fri Sep 07 06:47:21 2012 (50494B21)
DptfDevPch DptfDevPch.sys Fri Sep 07 06:48:23 2012 (50494B5F)
DptfDevProc DptfDevProc.sys Fri Sep 07 06:49:30 2012 (50494BA2)
DptfManager DptfManager.sys Fri Sep 07 06:46:19 2012 :- Driver Reference Table
excfs excfs.sys Sat Mar 31 01:23:05 2012 :- Driver Reference Table
kbfiltr kbfiltr.sys Thu Aug 02 08:52:22 2012 :- Driver Reference Table
RTKVHD64 RTKVHD64.sys Tue Dec 04 18:58:37 2012 :- Driver Reference Table
TGBMPENUM.sys :- Please update or remove the TheGreenBow VPN Miniport Enumerator

My most likely guess is that the Aicharger.sys is the root cause of this whole trouble as it is written also on the link given that it is the probable cause for many BSOD's. Please update or remove that driver first and then proceed further.

Please let me know in case any further trouble is faced by you and I will be glad to help you out ^_^

blueelvis,
Thanks so much for diving into this.
I got rid of AICharger.
Looked for updates on intel.com for the Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework but I did not find anything.

Still crashes coming out of sleep.

Hi Bigdave,

I analyzed your dump files but they are still pointing towards the Intel Storage Driver. Could you please run driver verifier according to these steps and post back with the new dump files?

Also, one more thing I was thinking that, could you try using an older driver of Intel Rapid Storage ( a bit older but still compatible with Windows 8) and see if the issue still persists?

Also, you could try the advice given above. Who knows, it might fix your problem as well?
