I have fixed a few of these by adjusting the RAM settings, usually voltages for the RAM and/or memory controller. Once in a while the idle CPU voltage is the culprit.
I forget his exact screen name now, but Chevy is excellent at this. Another dude I learned a lot from, as I have from Ken, Capt Jack, many smart guys around out there. I'm pretty sure I've learned things from you too over the years in researching things.

Not to mention the infamous H2S04! Wonder if he is still doing things online, perhaps with a different name.

    dear davehc

the 2011 sata driver is the one causing the issue...

i used one for 2009 ....and it works perfect no more reboot on startup

i think some issues with the latest drivers ...not just for the sata controller just switch to an older version of the driver if you know who is giving you trouble

    all the best

    Tks for responding, Ikt.

Gman. Tks for the link. It led me into a lot of googling and research. Unfortunately, your Quote was the only statement, unadorned, in the whole document on that link. But this thread did direct the problem to the direct cause - timings. It seems to be a bit of a chicken and egg thing. The source of the problem is less than perfect power supplies, it seems. After a couple of starts, the power, one could say, warms up and gets up to spec and delivers what it is designed to give, and the ram, whether the timing is correct or not, can then operate "normally".
I will admit that there does seem to be hints, though nothing positive, on the variations between cold and hot ram, but it seems that it is only a microscopic difference, which should not impair the actual function of the ram.
But anyway. I have been able to learn something. If you think this is still contentious, we can agree to differ?
