BSOD: WHEA Uncorrectible Errors while running Second Life

I only ever seem to get BSOD's while running the Firestorm viewer for Second Life. In the past it would happen maybe once a week, the past few days its happened several times a night. I've tried a different viewer, but it still happened. I can play Skyrim and other high demand games, full blast, with no problem whatsoever, so I can only assume its something to do with the Second Life viewers.

I've checked temperatures, and nothing ever gets higher than 50c, usually more like 45c. I did build this computer myself, first time doing so, so it's likely something I screwed up, but I would appreciate any suggestions about what might be causing the issue.

My Computer

System One

  • OS
    Windows 8.1 64 bit
    Computer type
    PC/Desktop
    CPU
    Intel i7-4770K 3.50 GHz
    Motherboard
    Asus Z87-A ATX LGA1150
    Memory
    8 Gigs
    Graphics Card(s)
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770
A while back I got these sort of errors when plugging an oversized video card into a Dell computer. Pulling it out and reseating it fixed the problem there. You may want to unplug the system from the wall, ground yourself, and then double check ALL of the connections (and reseat them).

Only 43 Windows Updates installed. Most systems have 56-60 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all). This is only an estimate, it's the trip to Windows Updates that counts.

I noticed that you don't have Secure Boot and/or UEFI enabled. If you were having problems with it and changed it, please let us know. I can't tell the age of your system (or if it came equipped w/UEFI), so please let us know.
It's not necessary to enable it now. But, should you reinstall Windows at some point in the future, please enable it first.

I mention this because it may happen that (one day) the system won't boot. This can be caused by a program changing your UEFI settings, or an update of the UEFI resetting it to default values.

To test and see if this is the cause, boot into the UEFI and see if the settings have been changed. If uncertain, try with Secure Boot both on and off (and the UEFI on UEFI or Legacy (CSM))

If it still doesn't boot after trying this, then move on to other troubleshooting tools as it's not likely to be due to this.

You have 3 hard drives. What is the make/model/wattage and age of your Power Supply?

MSI Afterburner (along with Riva Tuner and EVGA Precision) are known to cause BSOD's in some Windows systems (it's driver is usually RTCore64.sys). Please un-install them immediately!

If you're overclocking, please stop the overclock while we're troubleshooting. Feel free to resume the overclock once the system has been stabilized.

Please uninstall Spybot Search & Destroy. This is just a hunch on my part - based upon previous problems with the TeaTimer app.
Feel free to reinstall the latest, Win8.1 compatible version once the system has been stabilized.

If all of this doesn't stop the BSOD's, please run these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics. Let us know the results and we can move on from there.

    Other Info
    I'm handsome and a snappy dresser :0)
A while back I got these sort of errors when plugging an oversized video card into a Dell computer. Pulling it out and reseating it fixed the problem there. You may want to unplug the system from the wall, ground yourself, and then double check ALL of the connections (and reseat them).

I will try this and see if there is any difference.

Only 43 Windows Updates installed. Most systems have 56-60 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all). This is only an estimate, it's the trip to Windows Updates that counts.

Hmm, not sure how the auto-updates got turned off, but will fix that.

I'm not sure what secure boot is, but I will try to look into it.

You have 3 hard drives. What is the make/model/wattage and age of your Power Supply?

It is a Corsair RM 750W 80+ Gold Fully Modular ATX, and the whole computer is less than a year old.

I just added Afterburner recently to up the fan speeds, in case it was an overheating issue, so not overclocking. Will uninstall it anyway, since I don't think its a heat issue.

Please uninstall Spybot Search & Destroy. This is just a hunch on my part - based upon previous problems with the TeaTimer app.
Feel free to reinstall the latest, Win8.1 compatible version once the system has been stabilized.

Will do.
