explorer.exe crashes in daily basis!

Hello,

My explorer.exe keeps crashing and restarting every day, that happens to me 3-4 times in a day. I get 2 errors from these crashes:
- explorer.exe error
- Microsoft Visual C++ runtime library error

I have this problem even in Windows 7, now after I upgraded to Windows 8.1 with different hardwares but still have the same problem. So I guess it's related to one of my softwares.

I created dump file using Andre.Ziegler registry file so I hope someone can help me to analyze the dump file and provide the proper fix for it.

I'll have a look but can't promise anything. It will take 20 minutes to download for me though.

Generally the BSOD guys as for you to collect information using this tool so perhaps you could do that also.

EDIT - I can't open your .rar file, sorry. 7-Zip refuses to open the archive. If you could you compress it as a zip it would be good or perhaps someone else has WinRar and can check it.

Well I'll look into it if you do certainly. Perhaps someone else can open the file on your link but I can't. Both 7-Zip and Pea Zip wouldn't open it.

I can't extract the file either.
Please provide this information so we can provide a complete analysis (from the Pinned Topic at the top of the forum): http://www.eightforums.com/bsod-cra...e-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html Please use Option 1 as it provides Event Viewer logs. We need these files even if you're not having BSOD's.

This will be much, much smaller than the Andre.Zeigler file and will be easier to upload here (rather than on SkyDrive).

While you're waiting, there's several things to try:
- ensure that you have ALL Windows Updates (Win8.1 has 55 or more updates on average)
- ensure that you've updated all of your .NET components (should be automatic w/WinUpdate - but check the versions to be sure)
- follow these instructions to test for malfunctioning shell extensions:
1) download/install this free program: ShellExView - Shell Extension Manager For Windows (scroll to the bottom for the x64 and x86 versions)
2) run the program and disable ALL non-Microsoft extensions
3) reboot and see if that fixes the problem
- if it does fix the problem, enable them ½ at a time in order to figure out which one it is
- if it doesn't fix the problem, re-enable the ones that you disabled
4) Let us know the results and we'll move on from there.

I downloaded Windows Debugger and I got this analysis hope it's fine I spent lot of time to make it work. Also this dump from today as I removed dropbox because someone told it may cause the problem even that I had it without DP installed.

I'm not real interested in user level dumps - I get most of my info from the reports that I requested.
But, since you've gone to the trouble to run this one, let's have a look at it......

If you look at the Stack Text section, you'll note that the only 3rd party file is shellstreams64
This is a component that puts the PhotoStreams shell extension onto your context (right click) menu

If you then look at the beginning, the debugger is looking for symbols for:
- ShellStreams64.dll
- ApplePhotoStreamsPS64.dll

It also looks for symbols for:
- ClassicStartMenuDLL.dll
- IDMShellExt64.dll
- IDMNetMon64.DLL

So Classic Start Menu and Internet Download Manager may also be involved (but are less likely than the PhotoStreams stuff.

So, here's what to do:
- uninstall the Apple PhotoStreams stuff
- use the NirSoft Shell Extension Viewer to ensure that the ShellStreams64 extension is disabled (if it's still there after uninstalling).
- wait to see if the problem is fixed

If it's not fixed, then also remove Classic Start Menu and Internet Download Manager

NOTE: Please understand that looking for symbols is normal. I use this because 1) the symbols that are not found are usually related to 3rd party (non-Windows) files, and 2) the system is looking for them because they were present during this event (although not necessarily at fault).

Farzan - Please start your own topic. The error is an unknown program causing a crash in explorer.exe due to an access violation.
We'll need more info also, please do the following 2 things:

1) Please provide this information (even though you're not having BSOD's) so we can provide a complete analysis (from the Pinned Topic at the top of the forum): http://www.eightforums.com/bsod-cra...e-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html

2) Please do the following:
- open Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from the "Run" dialog)
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).
