Hi all,
For the past few months I have been having an issue while playing games or watching any kind of videos on line (youtube, netflix, etc.) My PC will randomly get BSOD and say something like WHEA uncorrectable error. I'm not really quite sure where I would start to look to address this issue as im used to my computer letting me know whats wrong with it and im not very good with computers :). Any help or direction would be appreciated!

Reading through some other issues I saw from others on this site I have included a copy of my minidumps on onedrive if this helps! http://1drv.ms/1gwdn17

Please let me know if any information etc. is needed to help me resolve this issue and again any help is very much appreciated!

Hi,

Unfortunately, it's blown capacitors on the motherboard, near the cpu.

Replace motherboard with exact same one or purchase a new system.

If you're handy with a soldering iron, you can replace the capacitors with low esr or ultra low type. See badcaps.net to purchase.

Out of curiosity, which motherboard is it and how old? Use CPU-Z to look if you don't know.

oh shoot thats too bad haha. It's a Asus Maximus VI hero I think it has a three year warranty and its about 5 months old atm. I think I should be able to RMA still b/c of a 3yr warranty. I'm too scared to attempt to solder anything haha!

Thanks so much for the help. I greatly appreciate it. I did have a look at the mobo and i didnt see that any of the capacitors seemed to be bulging or leaking could they still be blown without having that appearance?

Ya, that board uses polymer capacitors, which actually does lower the possibility of one or more having gone bad by a large margin. They can't and don't leak. They can go bad but not too often. If there was a very high heat situation at some instant, that could have caused it.

The deal is like this though: You're getting 0x124 hardware stops and all your drivers are ok.

Absolutely without question though, even if I have not seen any crash dumps, when Youtube crashes and most other things are ok, capacitors are #1 on the list of culprits by a longshot.

Best I can tell you is to make sure the heatsink is on well to the cpu and temps are good. Test the system with the case open and room fan blowing in on it, to rule out heat as a cause. (If it crashes, not cause. If it doesn't, well, maybe.)

Update bios to newest for good measure. Remove all non-essential peripherals to test (especially USB stuff.)

But at the end of the day...it still can be the motherboard.

One other thing we can look at is memory. You can attach a screenshot of CPU-Z 1st tab, one of Memory tab and one each for each stick of RAM of the SPD tab. We'll see how that is, currently.

Update:

rtwlane rtwlane.sys Thu Jun 21 00:45:30 2012 (4FE2A6EA) <<<< Check Device Manager if I gave you the right link for your wireless. If not, find the right one at Realtek instead.

Download/install latest Intel Management Engine driver from Intel.com:

HECIx64 HECIx64.sys Mon Dec 17 14:32:21 2012 (50CF7345)

Download/install latest ATK or Probe II from ASUS for your model (in Downloads/Utilities section):

AsIO AsIO.sys Wed Aug 22 05:54:47 2012 (5034AC67)

I REALLLLLLLLY do not see any of these causing 0x124 stops, but always best for latest drivers anyhow.

Give the system a nice scan with Malwarebytes and ADWCleaner.

Hi again,
Thanks for the help on this. I will include those CPUZ screenshots and get to work on the other stuff and will update you on how that works out :).

Memory gets a thumbs up. It is set well and I otherwise, don't think it's at issue. It's set well and the sticks are the same, which is good.

You can try to disable Turbo in the bios for the Intel processor, while testing too, but I don't think that's an issue either.

Hello again good sir,
So I just updated the chipset drivers, installed the intel management engine driver, updated my graphics card driver (just in case) and I did some heat tests while playing battfield 4 the highest temp I saw was 46c using HWMonitor. I just ran the Malware bytes full scan and it did find a P.U.P in my temporary files so i had that removed. Hopefully the driver updates will fix it as I noticed my SM bus tab in device manager had a yellow exclamation sign by it until I updated the chipset drivers. I also updated the wireless card and ethernet controller drivers. So I will be testing it out further and if it BSOD's again I will RMA this bad boy. I will keep you updated on how it goes.

Thanks again for all the help,
You sir are a legend!
