Constant DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE 9f at hibernation while using pagefile on RAMdisk
Windows 8.1 Pro (32-bit)
RAM = 10 GB
When the DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE 9f on hibernation started, I wasn’t sure about the culprit, because I had made several changes on my computer. One was using Primo RAMdisk to create a RAMdisk in the “invisible” memory (that above the 3.5 GB Windows can see). I also wanted to put pagefile.sys on the RAMdisk, since it is the only way to speed up (actually to reasonable) this computer's behavior.
When Primo RAMdisk trial period was over, the “DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE 9f on hibernation” BSODs stopped.
I got a trial extension of Primo RAMdisk for the purpose of testing. With the RAMdisk created, but no pagefile on that one, the systems goes into hibernation in about 40 seconds – and there is no error. When I allocate some amount of RAMdisk for the pagefile, it takes the system about 6 minutes to try to go into hibernation and then it shuts down “unexpectedly” – practically I don’t actually see a BSOD since the monitor is not active.
Apart from this hibernation annoyance, when the pagefile is on RAMdisk, I get occasionally “infuriating” BSODs of KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR 7a and DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL 0a. These come unexpectedly and I can really lose my recent work.
What repair do I have? another one apart from “don’t put any pagefile on the RAMdisk”. Is there maybe any conflict with another driver (nVidia?)? Is there any way I can keep pagefile on the RAMdisk?
While I might give up hibernation (it's springtime anyway!), I am more worried about the other 2 BSODs that may destroy my recent work.
Note: my pagefile allocation is a little strange. It is spread across 3 drives: some on HDD 1, some on HDD 2 and some on the RAMdrive.
