Random BSOD Windows 8.1

I'm experiencing random BSOD's on my PC but mostly when I'm browsing on Firefox watching video's, listening to music and doing other stuff on Windows but it also happened when someone was copying files from my hard disk. BSOD's messages are varying from kmode_exception_not_handled or system_service_exception.

I already reinstalled Windows again but sadly that didn't have any positive outcome.

The motherboard and CPU are the newest parts that I have installed. I already ran memtest for several hours but it didn't report any errors.

I'm rather clueless what the problem could be. It's pretty anoying I can say...

I attached the dump and logs files. Hopefully someone can find the problem and point it out to me.

Please download and run CPU-Z.

Take a screenshot of the first tab, one of the memory tab and then a screenshot for each stick of ram that you have of the SPD tab.

My current educated guess is that there is some unintentional overclocking in the system, and the screenshots will help determine about that.

When you take the screenshot of the first tab, try to do it while the cpu use is high and the cpu is under load. Run a game or something like a video encoder in the background.

Install this Jan 2014 driver for your Sound Blaster Z: Creative Worldwide Support

I have attached the requested CPU-Z screenshots to my first post.

The jan 2014 driver for Sound Blaster Z has the same version number as the driver I currently have installed but I can try the jan 2014 version to see if it has some positive effect.

Have you checked my dump and log files?

The issue is large overclocking on the RAM and some on the CPU.

Set bios to Optimized Defaults, save, then post new screenshots please.

What makes you say that my RAM is overclocked? It's set at the XMP profile and running at 1600 Mhz on 1.65 volt.

What makes you say that my RAM is overclocked? It's set at the XMP profile and running at 1600 Mhz on 1.65 volt.

Because it is designed to run at 667 Mhz (effective 1333 Mhz).

I mean - by all means - set it to anything you like and it's more than fine by me. If you're interested in fixing the machine, my previous post is the way to go about it.

So, you have all the helpful information I can give that you need. Best of luck with the machine.

I'm more than willing to try that if that will fix the BSOD problem I have but what I don't understand is that it has always ran at the XMP profile setting of 1600 Mhz on my previous motherboard and I never had any problems with it. I have this memory for about 5 years now.

I uploaded the new screens.

New screenshots look good. If any crashes at all, set the CPU to default clock speeds to test and take things from there.

Should be ok as is though.

No, it is set to be slightly overclocked at ~5.7%:

View attachment 36319

The processor is a 3.5 GHz one and you have it currently set to 3.7 GHz, with abilities to go even further up to 3.9 GHz.

Since the processor is a nice i7, it should be ok like that, but if not - it should be set that max multiplier = 35, not 39.

Oh that, that is called Intel Turbo Boost Technology and is nothing harmful. It's enabled by default btw.

Intel® Turbo Boost Technology?On-Demand Processor Performance

Today I retested all of four of my memory modules individually in all of the memory banks with memtest and they all came up ok so I'm 99% certain that it's not a memory problem.

If and when I get another BSOD I will report back. For now, a pleasant weekend to you MasterChief!

Had another BSOD during browsing on the Internet. I'm getting the idea that it is some sort of flaw in Firefox.

I've uploaded the new files.

Any suggestions?

Firefox has no such flaw and also can not crash Windows since it has no drivers.

Nothing has changed about my previous advice.

You have control. Bios settings and/or Windows power management. Processor can be set to 99% for maximum processor state if needed to do in Windows and no bios settings.

Make sure minimum is set to anything less than 99.
