Hi,

I need some help for solving problem with my laptop. I have an asus N56V running windows 8.1. In last weeks I got several times a BSOD error telling me DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL(netio.sys).

I allready searched the forum for people having the same problem with similar system configuration but could not find appropriate solutions. I never had any mcafee or symantec security suites installed on my computer. I use Avira Internet Security.

I attached my dmp file. Would be great if you guys could get me a hint how to solve this error.

regards,
Philipp

Remove Avira, reboot, run the tool they offer to remove is as well.

Set Windows Firewall and Windows Defender services to Automatic and start them too.

Enjoy.

Unrelated, but should update from ASUS Downloads/Utilities section, even if must look to Windows 7 (anything hotkey or ATK/ACPI):

Code:
ASMMAP64 ASMMAP64.sys Thu Jul 02 05:13:26 2009 (4A4C7A36)

Same thing for USB AI Charger or similar. Might be in Others section instead but I don't think so:

Code:
AiCharger AiCharger.sys Thu Sep 22 22:04:40 2011 (4E7BE938)

Probably should uninstall Akamai Netsession interface.

If issues persist, remove the software related to this driver:

Code:
4: kd> lmvm RrNetCapFilterDriver
start end module name

Or delete it manually, then open Regedit and delete its subkey here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet

Reboot.

Uninstall Daemon Tools Lite and replace with PowerISO.

And uninstall (better) or update VMWare:

Thanks for your advice so far!

For now I'm just removing Avira Internet Security and will check if blue screen will pop up again.

BTW: Are the windows 8.1 security tools for antivirus and firewall sufficent? I always thought at least a good third party antivirus tool is recommended. But maybe this was the case with former versions of windows.

Yes, they are excellent. You can use Malwarebytes to scan every so often as a supplement, which is always advisable under any circumstance. You're welcome. The machine will be fine with Avira gone as it specifically did cause crashes. The other things mentioned might have caused their own too, so that's why I did mention.

Just wanted to let you know that my machine runs fine since I applied your suggested changes one week ago. No BSOD since last friday. Problem seems to be resolved!

Good to hear. Now time to enjoy the machine instead of wanting to curse at it...so enjoy.
