Windows 8.1 upgrade now bluescreening

Okay so I upgraded to the free Windows 8.1 from the store because of Battlefield 4 and that I heard it could help with the cpu frame render time spikes ( protip : it didn't ).

I did this before with the same error, restored back to Windows 8 and everything was back to normal, the thing is I want to get the bottom of this. WhoCrashed always said it could be a thermal issue, however this is IMPOSSIBLE since I've tested this system 22 times for hours on end to see if an overheat could happen under extreme conditions.

I would be grateful to have someone look at this and see what's causing this issue.

Man, it seems today MS made changes to Skydrive. I can not access your file, even after logging into my personal Hotmail. (It auto-redirects to sign in page, and even after signing in, it's of no help.)

Please, just attach it to a new post or edit your old one, with the paperclip icon above the post, in advanced mode posting.

It's a 0x124 crash. Hal. Hardware. Not good, but a driver could be responsible, still.

First thing is first: If any overclocking on any component, revert to factory defaults. Monitor temps to ensure within spec. If dust/debris build up near fans, clean it/them. If heatsink is not on well to cpu, clean the bottom of it and the top of cpu simply with a smooth paper towel or toilet paper, then put heat sink back on after adding a thin layer of Artic Silver.

That being said, I can't really say too much about your drivers since they all are well. You could possibly update the Intel storage driver from Intel.com, but that is not the cause here at all.

Update motherboard bios firmware to latest.

Compare CPU-Z SPD tab to Memory tab. See if memory is set well. Look at first tab to see if CPU is overclocked (while under load).

Let me know how it goes or if you have any questions and we'll see what's good.

If new crashes, please post new crash dumps.

Looking more into it, I see you have this driver:

xusb22.sys

It is part of the unloaded modules list, and it is so very rare that anything there is of interest, but possibly here.

If you have MotionJoy installed, there is your problem.

Well still it doesn't make any sense that it only happens after upgrading to 8.1 Like I said I've done this before with this same error, this honestly does not happen with 8 period. Maybe I should just revert back to 8. Still doesn't make much sense though.

I don't have motionjoy installed, however you said the sys is there, I'll take a look because motionjoy has caused bsod in the past but they usually referenced the driver directly

Cool, yes, see if you can eliminate the xusb22.sys driver from the system.

I assure you, 0x124 stops are not inherent to any OS. Only the actual machine can make these happen.

Perhaps, remove ASUS Smart Doctor software since the driver is very rare/unusual and because of that, I can not guarantee it to be working well (even if it is, I can not guarantee! - which is what is needed, especially in this 0x124 instance, heh heh)

You're very welcome.

Ccleaner is awesome, so that's good, but even removing Window.old, it won't help with crashes.

(Maybe this is some kinda rare instance, since it was in unloaded modules, but doubtful.)

Best of luck and we will get to the bottom of things one way or another, if necessary. There are things that can be done.

I played all day yesterday with no issues, no errors in event viewer so far, temps perfectly normal. I think the reason it happened the last time I upgraded was for the same reason, CCleaner seems to have fixed it, but if you wouldn't mind keeping the thread open for at least a day or two I would appreciate it. Thanks for doing what you do :)
