BSOD driving me crazy. Seems to only come when idle

I walk away from my computer for a bit and come back to a BSOD. This happens quite regular. I have run my system both stock and highly overclocked. When it started BSODing on me I put it back to stock to see if that helped but it has not helped. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I would uninstall Norton/Symantec in the normal method, then use the tool they offer to remove it as well.

Set Windows Firewall and Windows Defender to Automatic and start them too.

In at least one crash, the page file sent bad data or could not be read at all, and Norton loves to do things of this type of nature.

Update Broadcom Netlink Gigabit Ethernet driver:

I uninstalled norton and ran the removal tool.

The only logitech I have is my G700s mouse and I have the latest software installed for it. My keyboard is a mechanical Deck keyboard.

Deck Legend | Deck Keyboards

I don't have openvpn or comodo. I am using private internet access. I just updated that software.

I also just updated the broadcom network driver to the latest.

See how it goes with that Norton removed and the new link I put above to update the LAN driver.

If issues persist (unlikely) - we will look into removing the Logitech 2009 driver and seeing if the VPN driver has been updated.

Thanks! I will report back if I encounter another bsod.

This is from the latest crash dump:

Code:
KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR (7a)
The requested page of kernel data could not be read in. Typically caused by
a bad block in the paging file or disk controller error. Also see
KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR.
If the error status is 0xC000000E, 0xC000009C, 0xC000009D or 0xC0000185,
it means the disk subsystem has experienced a failure.
If the error status is 0xC000009A, then it means the request failed because
a filesystem failed to make forward progress.

I suggest three things dealing with that for now.

1) Update the motherboard bios to latest if it is not already.
2) Update the firmware to any SSDs you have, if any at all.
3) Run this command from an elevated prompt for each HDD or SSD partition you have (especially where page file is), changing C: for each time you run it for each drive letter:

chkdsk /r C:

If you have a Logitech gamepad: Update the driver from Logitech.com

If you do not have a Logitech gamepad:
Delete this file -
Code:

This is unreal. I tried to scan my main C drive (OCZ Vertex 4 256GB) and at 12% I keep getting this same BSOD. Is this my SSD going bad or just a corrupt file?

Could be SSD is acting up. Make sure you have the TRIM command enabled for it. (Also update its firmware if you have not yet - AND - if there is an update available.)

What I would do if I were you, I would completely disable the page file for a day or so to test.

If no crashes, re-enable it.

This will change its physical location on the drive too. Perhaps think about setting the page file to a spinner drive if you have one. That will enhance the longevity of the SSD, if in fact, nothing is wrong with it and you will keep it.

(No minidumps will be made without the pagefile though.)

Just a heads up I am now back on windows 7 pro. I have installed windows 8 3 times and every time I have ran into one problem or the other. Each time I go back to 7 and have no more problems. I do thank you for your help. If we kept it up we would have probably found the issue but I just need my system stable and it has never been stable with windows 8 or 8.1

You're welcome.

As you can see by my specs, I think 7 is worlds better anyway for all sorts of reasons. Stability-wise, both operating systems are similar and well, though.

There might just be something inherent to your system, such as firmware needed for the drive or motherboard (or that tap driver works well under 7 but not 8), but I say if you're happy with 7 then more power to ya. Enjoy.
