BSOD's with multiple different error codes

Hi,

I seem to get 1 BSOD each day I use my computer for more than an hour or two.

MSI GT70 2OD
Intel i7 4700mq
Intel HD4600 and Nvidia GTX780m

I have been told previously that the BSOD's i get have been graphics driver related. I have basically been going through every different driver I can find to hopefully find a combination where they do not conflict and crash.

If someone could please take a quick look and make sure im still on the right track with Graphics card drivers. Would be great to find out I just missed something obvious and will be a quick fix.

I was thinking I should roll back to windows 8 from 8.1 but a quick look around and it seems these GT70's suffer from the blue screens on windows 8 too.

Would be greatly appreciative of any help.
Thanks

Your BSODs are various and assorted. Something is misconfigured in the machine.

Start with updating the bios to latest, from manufacturer. Then, set Optimized Defaults in the bios and save. (Make sure you set AHCI mode for the hard drive(s) after, if that is how it is currently set - AND - Optimized Defaults set it wrong.)

When back to Windows, use CPU-Z to compare the Memory Tab to SPD tab. The SPD tab will tell you how the memory should be set. See if Memory tab reflects that well.

Let us know how it goes please, and let us know if you need further help.

If you have mismatched memory sticks, remove the slower ones and leave only the faster ones. Check the motherboard manual for which slots to have memory installed properly.

Make sure cooling is working sufficiently and the fans are clean. Use the laptop on a flat surface where the air can easily exit the port(s).

If you're overclocking with any sort of utility in Windows for anything at all, uninstall now for testing purposes.

I personally really don't like this driver file on your 8 machine:

Code:
4: kd> lmvm mBfilt64
start end module name
fffff800`03dba000 fffff800`03dc8000 MBfilt64 (deferred)
    Image path: \SystemRoot\system32\drivers\MBfilt64.sys
    Image name: MBfilt64.sys
    Timestamp: Thu Jul 30 23:40:32 2009 (4A7267B0)
    CheckSum: 0000FF02

    Translations: 0000.04b0 0000.04e4 0409.04b0 0409.04e4

We might have to remove that in a clean method. We'll see about that soon if deemed necessary.

Just killing some time and hanging out here, and have one of your crash dumps opened. I am not overly thrilled with these drivers as well. Doubtful they are an issue, but not doubtful enough to not have mentioned it:

Code:
tusbaudio_x64 tusbaudio_x64.sys Thu Dec 02 08:54:50 2010 (4CF7A52A)
tusbaudioks_x64 tusbaudioks_x64.sys Thu Dec 02 08:55:27 2010

You know what hardware you have better than I do, so perhaps see what you can find on here related to what it is you have, and install if possible (or visit actual hardware manufacturer's page instead):

Thank you very much for the reply. Regarding the tusbaudio drivers, they are the most up to date available for my USB microphone. I had bsods before I ever installed them.

I have just ordered a new external hard drive, waiting for it to arrive in the mail. I will back up all my files just incase anything goes wrong. So will post back on here once that is done and I update the bios.

Just a quick question, I updated the EC firmware without updating the bios before, and when I entered into the bios I had no functionality, so I had to reinstall the older firmware. Is that because I hadn't updated the bios as well or are they unrelated and I should avoid updating the firmware again once the bios is updated?

Thanks for your help. Greatly appreciated

You're welcome.

Um, ya - I would install the latest bios update first, then mess about with setting Optimized Defaults as per above (remember AHCI, if necessary.)

Then, update EC or attempt to, if you feel like it.

Of course, keep us updated as necessary, please and good luck.
