BSOD after Kaspersky starts working, ks.sys

Hello,

I installed kaspersky but as soon as it opens, some seconds later, i get a BSOD with the following error: "Driver_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (wanarp.sys)".
Uninstalling kaspersky solves the problem, but i paid for it, so i guess that's not a solution.

I included the required zip in this post.

Thanks in advance.

Try disabling the Kaspersky Self-Defense/Self-Protection mode.
If that stops the BSOD's, then it's likely an installed program that needs updating (I don't know which one).
I've seen this at work several times - and most of them are tcpip.sys errors

Only 119 Windows Updates installed. Most systems have 160 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

I would strongly suggest updating your Kaspersky program to the latest, Win8 compatible version (It appears that you had a current version and downgraded to an older version). The latest version is available from their website and will update you for free.

SSD's were temperamental when they first came out, but their reliability has improved greatly over the last year or two. There are 2 things that MUST be checked on systems with BSOD's and SSD's:
1) That the SSD firmware is the latest available for the SSD. I usually can't see this info in the reports, so I rely on you to check it.
2) That the storage controller drivers on the motherboard are the most recent. They must date from late 2012 or later. This is ALL controllers, not just the one that the SSD is attached to. If involved these should be visible in the memory dump - but it doesn't hurt to check manually.

C: drive only has about 2% free space. Windows likes 15% free space in order to perform stuff "behind the scenes" without adversely affecting the system's performance. Please free up 15% on ALL hard drives (you can get away with 10% on larger drives and won't notice a large performance penalty)

This device is disabled. Is this deliberate? If so, why?
Logitech Gaming Virtual Mouse LOGIDEVICE\VID_046D&PID_C231\1&79F5D87&1&49713 This device is disabled.
Please enable the device and update it's drivers - then feel free to disable it again.

Many Live Kernel Events in the WER section of MSINFO32. This may hint at a hardware problem, please do the following:
- open Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from the "Run" dialog))
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

While waiting for a reply, please monitor your temps with this free utility: HWMonitor CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions).
Please un-install the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): [DEL] DuplexSecure - FAQ [/DEL] Link broken as of 21 Jul 2012
New link (15 Aug 2012): DuplexSecure - Downloads (pick the appropriate version for your system and select "Un-install" when you run it).

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

First, thanks for your help.
I followed your tips, and nothing seemed to have worked.

I once disabled it because i had problems with my mouse, but it's working fine now, and i just activated that again.

Temperatures seem all ok.

Since i didn't found updates to the "older drivers", i uninstalled their programs, which apparently didn't solve much.

I included in this post the "Admin.evtx".

Since nothing stopped the BSOD's, i also included the minidump, after following the Driver Verifier Settings instructions.

My Computer

System One

  • OS
    Windows 8
Admin logfile doesn't show any other problems that I can see (only the BSOD's)

The verifier enabled memory dump blames a Windows networking driver.
I would first suggest removing Kaspersky (temporarily) and use Windows Defender and the Windows Firewall while testing.

I would also run this series of commands to ensure that you're not experiencing Windows corruption:
Then please run the following DISM commands to see if there's any problems with the system (from an elevated (Run as administrator) Command Prompt). Press Enter after each one:
Code:
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
Code:
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

If the problem is fixable, you can use this command to repair it (from an elevated (Run as administrator) Command Prompt). Press Enter after typing it:
Code:
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

From this article: Repair a Windows Image

You can also run sfc.exe /scannow from an elevated (Run as administrator) Command Prompt to check for further corruption.
Please uninstall the Logitech software while we're testing. Feel free to reinstall it after the system has been stabilized.

Finally, I'd strongly suggest updating your ethernet driver with this one: Realtek This driver will date from 15 Aug 2013 (yours is from 2011).

If these don't fix it, then we have to start wondering if there's a hardware problem.
To get a headstart on that you can run these free diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics
