So, I am having blue screens and shut off on my laptop with 8.1 and 8 before.

I tried everything. Clean installs, BIOS and all drivers update...

It gets blue, shuts off and restarts to DOS, and I have to remove the battery and unplug to restart to Windows.

Any idea why this happens?

Do I also have to do the Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD thing too?

Thanks a lot.

There are no memory dumps in the uploaded reports - so please do this:
Upload Dump Files:
NOTE: If using a disk cleaning utility, please stop using it while we are troubleshooting your issues.
Please go to C:\Windows\Minidump and zip up the contents of the folder. Then upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.
Left click on the first minidump file.
Hold down the "Shift" key and left click on the last minidump file.
Right click on the blue highlighted area and select "Send to"
Select "Compressed (zipped) folder" and note where the folder is saved.
Upload that .zip file with your next post.

If you have issues with "Access Denied" errors, try copying the files to your desktop and zipping them up from there. If it still won't let you zip them up, post back for further advice.

If you don't have anything in that folder, please check in C:\Windows for a file named MEMORY.DMP. If you find it, zip it up and upload it to a free file hosting service. Then post the link to it in your topic so that we can download it.

Also, search your entire hard drive for files ending in .dmp, .mdmp, and .hdmp. Zip up any that you find and upload them with your next post.

Then, follow the directions here to set your system for Minidumps (much smaller than the MEMORY.DMP file): Set MiniDumpMore info on dump file options here: Overview of memory dump file options for Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008 R2

This device has problems in Device Manager:
No disponible ROOT\NET\0000 Los controladores de este dispositivo no están instalados.
Please install the drivers for this device. It is most likely a networking device, so check to see what networking devices aren't installed/working on your system.

If you find problems (in Device Manager) with the Microsoft Kernel Debug Network Adapter - right click on it and Uninstall it. Reboot to see if it fixes problems with it.

Lot's of problems with "PrisaDigialSL.ElPas_1.3.0.5_" Most likely a program from Prisa Digital. Please uninstall it to see if that helps stop the problems.

No sign of BSOD's or Live Kernel Events in the WER section of MSINFO32.

Ok, done. I reply to all your instructions in order.

1- I don't have any C:\Windows\Minidump folder. (see secreenshot below)

2- I don't have any Memory.dmp file in my computer.

3- I only have one .dmp file, and no .mdmp or .hdmp. I attach it in a zip file, together with Admin.evtx

4. I don't know where to find the drivers for ROOT\NET\0000. I checked in ASUS for this X501A and there is nothing like Device Manager. Here Notebooks & Ultrabooks - X501A

5- In my Device Manager, there is only one unknown device. Which I don't know what it is. Everything works fine, but maybe it is something I never use. See screenshot attached below.

6- I don't see Microsoft Kernel Debug Network Adapter within Device Manager. I opened the whole tree.

7- I uninstalled the Prisa Digital app (I guess it was the app for El País newspaper, belonging to Prisa Group). So, it's unistalled.

8- All temperatures are OK, I check them very often. It runs cold.

Awaiting new instructions, a million thanks.

Right click on the Dispositivo desconocido and select "Properties", then select the "Details" tab, then select "Hardware IDs"
It may not show anything other than the ROOT\NET\0000 information - but it won't hurt to look.

Please expand the "Adaptadores de red" section (in Device Manager) and post a screen shot of that for us to have a look at

Also, please go to the Run dialog (press the "Win" key and the "R" key at the same time)
Type in "perfmon /report" (without the quotes) and press Enter
Wait for the report to run....
Then, when it's done, click on "File", then on "Save as", give it a name and save it (as an .html file) somewhere where you'll remember it.
Then zip it up and upload it with your next report.

The lack of memory dumps and the number of unexplained Event ID 41's in the Admin log of Event Viewer are suggestive of a hardware problem. Please use the temperature monitoring utility that I suggested and upload a report from it for us to have a look at. Overheating is not always obvious (and it doesn't necessarily show in the temperature reports either).

Use a laptop cooling pad to see if that decreases the frequency of the BSOD's - if it does, then it's overheating.
If not, then start with these free diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics

The dump file can't find the proper symbols to analyze the crash - but I was able to see that Maxthon was involved.
Please uninstall it temporarily to see if that helps.

More errors around.

The temperatures are cold. This Asus has been crashing since I made a clean install of W8 from a MSDN iso that I downloaded via torrent and deleted the Asus recovery partitions. Now I am using another W8.1 also downloaded via torrent. I use my own licence that came with this device.

Probably my fault, but I did so because this laptop has been having problems from the beginning. First, the pointer (arrow) shakes and moves often, specially when it is connected to the power and has the battery at the same time. I read it was a common problem for many Asus laptops, different models. Then, it got slow or frozen occasionally when copying big files or doing demanding operations. So I tried different things and at some point someone suggested me to try this. The blue screens are there ever since, so maybe I deleted drivers from the Asus installation that don't auto-install with Windows updates. I checked all the drivers in the Asus site and installed every new version I found. Maybe I missed something or it is not released in their site.

I will uninstall Maxthon and see if it helps.

The Hardware Diagnostics site is too complicated for me. I really don't understand what file to download and how it works.

Many thanks.

Then reboot and see if that fixes it. If not, then post back for more suggestions

As for the torrent copies - I'm afraid that they aren't reliable, and are in fact illegal.
I would suggest that you contact Asus for a legal copy of their restore disks.

There are enough signs here that I have to wonder about this installation. Should this be a pirated copy of Windows, please be aware that we may not be able to fix it (as the hacks that were done to activate it will cause the OS to behave differently than we expect it to). If that's the case, our efforts to help may just waste your time. Secondly, the forum rules prohibit assisting with pirated software - so the topic would be closed if that is the case.

Please provide the MGADiag report according to these instructions (from this post: Product Key Number - Uninstall and Deactivate in Windows - Page 3 - Windows 7 Help Forums ):
To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.

I purchased this laptop on summer with Windows 8 included and used the same license number to activate the iso that I had to download because my laptop was working wrong from the beginning and both Asus and Microsoft are just crooks selling bad products and awful assistance. Both of them. That is why I had to try to find the solution myself via dangerous copy from the internet, which I trusted because it had thousands of downloads and comments.

Microsoft doesn't provide the iso because they want money out of everything.

If we discuss piracy, then Microsoft and the US Government have to let us know what they are doing with our privacy, our personal data and our fundamental civil and human rights, because they are both, Microsoft, the USA, Google and all of those american companies the real pirates, crooks and criminals here. This is the biggest crime against humanity known since WWII and still have the nerve to accuse of piracy to humble users who need a computer to work, pay for their license, the product is defective and still they dare to deny the right to repair it.

What a joke and what a cynical people.

To the person behind, thank you very much, to the Microsoft employee, go to hell.

Sorry if I go too far in my anger, but this is absolutely intolerable, we can't accept this without rebelling and fighting, and this is the least I can do and say against the abuse of your criminal companies and your criminal Government.
