Hello. I have been having trouble with my system exhibiting BSODs with the DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION BSOD. There isn't a lot more information than that that I know how to ready, anyway. I have been on a crash course in system diag since this began. I work with O365 and SharePoint development, mostly, and I cannot work when everything freezes and work is lost. I cannot do anything to force it to happen, but I have noticed that IE being open in one of the 4 monitors that are not the primary monitor seems to "bring it on". Outlook and IE seem to be almost certain.
I purchased new matching video cards last week to try and make this behavior go away, but the problem continues. I rebuilt my system with Windows 8.1 from scratch hoping for relief. I seem to get more time between chokes, but it still persists. I am hoping the SF_Diag submission will help you in telling me what your opinion is on something.
I have all new drivers installed on Windows 8.1 64-bit. Temps are good @ View attachment 32365 GPU temps are not much higher either. WhoCrashed v5.0 reports:

4 crash dumps have been found and analyzed. A third party driver has been identified to be causing system crashes on your computer. It is strongly suggested that you check for updates for these drivers on their company websites. Click on the links below to search with Google for updates for these drivers:

nvlddmkm.sys (NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 331.82 , NVIDIA Corporation)

If no updates for these drivers are available, try searching with Google on the names of these drivers in combination the errors that have been reported for these drivers and include the brand and model name of your computer as well in the query. This often yields interesting results from discussions from users who have been experiencing similar problems.

I am leaning to that direction, but please help me, soon ;), THANKS

The Windows 8.1 install is running on an Intel RAID 0 of 2 Mushkin Enhanced Chronos Deluxe MKNSSDCR120GB-DX 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drives. I suspected their firmware and flashed it to the most recent during the fresh build.

Why aren't you using the UEFI or Secure Boot?

You have at least 3 hard drives (all are RAID so I can't tell the exact number). What is the make/model/wattage and age of your Power Supply?

This device is disabled. Is this deliberate? If so, why?
Qualcomm Atheros AR9002WB-1NG Wireless Network Adapter PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_002B&SUBSYS_2C371A3B&REV_014&15C45F2F&0&00E3 This device is disabled.
Please enable the device and update it's drivers to the latest, Win8.1 compatible version. Feel free to disable it again after updating it.

The system appears overclocked. The max for your processor is 3.7/3.8 gHz (from this table: Intel® Core™ i7 Desktop Processor — Intel® Turbo Boost Technology frequency table ) The memory dump shows that you're at 4.549 gHz.
If you're overclocking, please stop the overclock while we're troubleshooting. Feel free to resume the overclock once the system has been stabilized.
Processor may be overclocked!
Expected Frequency: 3600
Actual Frequency: 4549
Overclock Ratio: 1.26361

This may be causing issues with your video cards (and that would be why there are video issues).
To verify this (with the overclock still on):
- use this free temperature monitor software: HWMonitor CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting (video temps shouldn't be above 80ºC - but problems usually won't start until 95ºC or 100ºC (these are estimates on my part)
- try the video stress tests from this link: Hardware Diagnostics

Then try it without the overclock.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Please note the drivers below that date from before the release of Windows 8.1 (26 Oct 2013) - check to see that each and every one is compatible w/Windows 8.1 (at the manufacturer's website). If not, you must either remove the device and it's software - or locate a Windows 8.1 compatible update on the web. FWIW - I'm very concerned about older versions of the Intel Management Engine and Win8.1 - yours dates from 2012 (HECIx64.sys) Please make sure to get an 8.1 compatible version from http://downloadcenter.intel.com

RE: usasma

Thanks for your time and evaluation. I am going through your reply and will respond to your points as I read through.

I use UEFI when I access the BIOS and make any changes. In what way do you mean "use the UEFI"? Secure Boot?

My power supply is a COOLER MASTER RS-A50-SPHA-D3 Silent Pro Hybrid 1050W. There are 6 total HDDs.

I have the Wifi device disabled in this system since I am not using it. I will enable and update the drivers and disable, as you suggest.

My system is overclocked by the onboard ASUS overclocking utility. The temps I posted before are the overclocked temps. I installed an ARCTIC Freezer i30 Extreme CPU Cooler to assist in the CPU cooling and was running the current speeds well before the system started to generate the DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION. I will try, as you said, and report the results here (while overclocked) after the test.

I am typing this while I'm running the FurMark test. I am not seeing an option for testing both video cards and GPU1 is getting the brunt of the testing. I am running the test in the default 960x540 (0x MSAA) mode. I tested for 5min. then regrouped for the proper settings (letting rest for 5min) now retesting, with log file, for the default ms set in the program (60000ms?)... 81C high on GPU1 so far...

No crashes today and none so far... Only change to the system so far is the disabling of hardware acceleration in IE 11 on this past Friday per another forum. NVIDIA has released a new driver since then (Hmmmm) but I haven't installed it...

Passed 10 min on the test and still all testing running on the GPU1 card... I wonder why nothing on the GPU2 card... 81C high temp and holding steady into 13min...

I asked about the UEFI as I saw this was a UEFI capable board, but you were using the legacy (BIOS) option.
At this point there's no sense in redoing the system to take advantage of it - but I would suggest that you do take advantage of it the next time that you reinstall Win8/8.1 I feel that development/updates will concentrate on the UEFI side and that the BIOS side may be neglected.

Make sure to test without the system being overclocked. I don't know the exact status of your system, but in most cases there are parts that affected by the overclock that aren't directly cooled by your cooling system.

Some tips for dual (or more) video cards:
[TIPS] How to Enable SLI and CrossFire Support for OpenGL Applications | Geeks3D
(Tips) How To Enable SLI and CrossFire Support for MSI Kombustor 2.0 | Geeks3D

If it still doesn't work, test the cards individually.

Crashed... Same DPC_WATCHDOG BSOD...

Just had a crash. I have been experiencing trouble with my Bluetooth devices, but it has recovered until today's BSOD. I am going to uninstall the Wifi/Bluetooth adapter that came with the ASUS P9X79 DELUXE MoBo to evaluate for changes. I am also going to remove the overclock. I will report changes in behavior.

Crash event details:
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x00000133 (0x0000000000000001, 0x0000000000001e00, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 120413-5921-01.

BTHUSB "Warning" before crash:
The local adapter does not support Bluetooth Low Energy. (I have already adjusted for power-saving to not operate in this device; I will be uninstalling the device/driver via Device Manager and disabling it now; I have another Bluetooth dongle I can use...)

Disabled the Wifi/Bluetooth adapter via the BIOS instead. Removed the overclock from the system. Immediately experienced a DPC_WATCHDOG BSOD 5mins into restart with events of usbehci "timeout occurred while waiting for the EHCI host controller Interrupt on Async Advance Doorbell response". I am downloading and installing the latest NVIDIA drivers v331.93 prior to posting a new SF_Diagnostic_Tool dump for you to eval.

Please note the drivers below that date from before the release of Windows 8.1 (17 Oct 2013) - check to see that each and every one is compatible w/Windows 8.1 (at the manufacturer's website). If not, you must either remove the device and it's software - or locate a Windows 8.1 compatible update on the web.

Also, ensure that you update the Intel Management Engine to the latest, Win8.1 compatible version available from http://downloadcenter.intel.com I suspect that the 2012 version isn't compatible w/Win8.1 (from my experience at work - detailed here: Win8.1 and Intel Management Engine (HECKIx64.sys) - Sysnative Forums )

I have work to do. I see your instructions on these drivers. That would be a lot to search out... I have noted EHCI USB type crashes and I noted an EHCI option in the BIOS of this Mobo. There is an enable/disable for it. The description is to enable it if you have a non EHCI OS installed for handing off signals, or something. I enabled it, for now, even though I know (think) Windows should be able to handle this. I have not crashed since this change, but I have things disabled and I have only run the system for a few hours since this change. I will do what I can to keep the community updated on this, if anyone is finding this useful, and post if/when next crash.

I have lost so much work time to this problem... :-(

FYI... These problems were occurring under Windows 8 too. These problems were what prompted my rebuild to Windows 8.1 on this system; they simply increased in frequency to the point of "pain". Now they persist... but ceased for this moment, I hope its over...

There are many different reasons that this might be happening.

Let's discuss the BSOD troubleshooting process that I use. It consists of 3 steps:
1) Rule out 3rd party drivers
2) Rule out hardware (which includes compatibility issues along with low-level driver issues)
3) Rule out Windows issues (this presumes that you have ALL Windows Updates)

Ruling out the 3rd party drivers is the most important step - as over 90% of BSOD's are caused by them.
Start with those highlighted in RED and fix them first - as they are most likely to be the cause of their problem (simply because they date from well before Win8/8.1 came out)

adfs.sys:
This Adobe file from 2008 is critical to remove. Uninstall Adobe Reader and check to see if that removes it.
If not, then remove other Adobe products until the driver is gone.
If you wish, you can then reinstall these programs using the latest, Win8.1 compatible version available from the Adobe website.

AsUpIO.sys:
This is a driver related to the Asus hardware monitoring utilities
Uninstall them from Control Panel...Programs...Uninstall a program

ICCWDT.sys:
The Intel Watchdog Timer driver is most likely a part of the Intel Management Engine package. Download the latest, Win8.1 compatible version from http://downloadcenter.intel.com and install it. Then check to see if the old driver is removed. If not, post back and we'll see about manually removing it. FWIW - this should also update the problematic HECIx64.sys driver.

mv_process.sys:

This is a part of the Marvell controller drivers package
Please download and install the latest, Win8.1 compatible version for your system.
If an 8.1 compatible version isn't available at the PC/mobo manufacturer's website, then try the Marvell website

ASUSFILTER.sys:
Update this from the Asus support website. It is a USB hub filter driver made by Asus.
