Solved Windows 8 crash when entering sleep mode

Hey guys,

I recently bought an ASUS laptop with Windows 8, and occasionally it crashes when waking up from sleep mode or when I close it (fold the screen down).
Either way, it just freezes, with the screen blank, and sometimes it restarts on its own, generating an error screen with links to .dmp (minidump) and .xml files that are sent to microsoft for analysis.
So, I followed the procedures to BSOD posting, generating the file attached here, and I hope that someone can help me.
Thank you!

Some additional information: my laptop has lights that indicate wi-fi on, battery alimentation, and other things. Even after the crash, sometimes the keybord shortcut to wi-fi still works, turning the light on/off. That's the only signal of life that I can get from it.

The reports are incomplete, please re-run the data collection app and let it run for at least 15 minutes (or until the app itself says that it's done). Then zip it up and upload it with your next post.

If you're overclocking, please stop the overclock while we're troubleshooting. Feel free to resume the overclock once the system has been stabilized.
Processor may be overclocked!

The memory dumps seem to blame your IntcDAud.sys driver - a component of your Intel Graphics Media Accelerator
Please update the driver to the latest, Win8 compatible version.
Also, be sure that you have ALL Windows Updates.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

So, I tried to install all updates possible to my system, and generated a new crash report, attached to this message.

About your remarks, I really don't know how I could be overclocking my system, since I barely understand the concept of overclocking; so I haven't consciously done anything related to that. I tried to update the drivers that you indicated me, but I can't find them on my computer, at least on the driver list. When I type them on the search toolbar, I find them only in a list of drivers (meaning they actually exist in my PC). I tried manually updating the drivers related to charging, but they seem to be up to date.

The most significant driver change I've made was on the GEForce, since I have a NVIDIA video card, with 2GB dedicated graphics, and the driver was not up to date. I've succesfully downloaded and installed the new driver from their website, but I didn't uninstall the older one, since I don't know if it's necessary and how to do it exactly without putting my system to risk.

Thanks for your help; I hope you or other user can look at the new crash report I posted and see if there's anything different from the older one.

I'm not familiar with the newer systems and their auto-overclocking. An overclock ratio this high (1.33) could be the cause of the BSOD's. I'd suggest posting over in the Performance and Maintenance section for advice in disabling the overclock temporarily: Performance & Maintenance - Windows 8 Forums

The Intel driver that we're concerned about (IntcDAud.sys) is contained in the VGA section and is the Intel graphics driver contained here: https://www.asus.com/support/Download/3/530/Q550LF/41/ Please install this version as the version of the IntcDAud.sys driver is dated 13 Sep 2013 (and your current driver is dated 11 Jan 2013) (If you've already installed this version, then the memory dump must be from before the driver was updated - in that case, wait for another BSOD and we'll see what it says).

I'd also suggest updating the Realtek Audio driver for your system (from the Asus website) - as there seems to be some sort of link between Realtek and Intel (Intel shows Realtek audio drivers on their site).

Be sure to follow the Intel advice to visit Windows Update before and after installing these drivers as it will fix a lot of issues with compatibility (if present).

IMO the most likely cause is the Intel driver, followed by the overclock, then followed by the Realtek audio.
If this doesn't stop the BSOD's, post back and we'll see what else we can figure out.
Good luck!
