Hi! :)

For a couple of weeks now I'm using Windows 8.1 (upgraded from a Win 8 installation). Everything went fine until yesterday when I got my first BSOD on Win 8.1. Today it happened again. The causes seem to be the same but I hope for your analysis and help!

Thanks in advance :)

Your BIOS dates from 2008. Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any BIOS updates available for your system. Also check the readme file to see if they apply to the problems that you are having. Please be advised that flashing the BIOS is a very unforgiving process - and one mistake can physically damage your motherboard.

There's a good chance that this system isn't compatible with Win8.1 - and despite our best efforts you may not be able to make the system stable. If that is the case, your options are to revert to Win8, Win7, or even WinVista to achieve stability. Good luck!

SSD's were temperamental when they first came out, but their reliability has improved greatly over the last year or two. There are 2 things that MUST be checked on systems with BSOD's and SSD's:
1) That the SSD firmware is the latest available for the SSD. I usually can't see this info in the reports, so I rely on you to check it.
2) That the storage controller drivers on the motherboard are the most recent. They must date from late 2012 or later. This is ALL controllers, not just the one that the SSD is attached to. If involved these should be visible in the memory dump - but it doesn't hurt to check manually.

ATI Tool may not be compatible - please uninstall it to test.

Please note the drivers below that date from before the release of Windows 8.1 (26 Oct 2013) - check to see that each and every one is compatible w/Windows 8.1 (at the manufacturer's website). If not, you must either remove the device and it's software - or locate a Windows 8.1 compatible update on the web.

If all of this doesn't stop the BSOD's, please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

Thanks for your work!

I try to get updates for the things you mentionend but I suppose my mainboard is just too old. Gigabyte won't supply any update for that anymore (neither for the storage controller nor the BIOS).

I will try removing the Ati Tool though.

By the way, I am pretty sure that the "IntelHaxm.sys" driver is the one which is used for Android development: the emulator has an option to emulate an x86 Android device. One has to install a driver from Intel for that, however.

Thanks for the info on the IntelHaxm.sys driver!

The only sure test for compatibility is to revert back to the OS that the system came with and see if it's stable there.
Good luck!
