BSOD every time I try and install Windows 8.1

Well I have had this machine for a while (Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet X201) and it came with Windows 7. I upgraded the RAM to 8 GB with cheap RAM from Ebay and it worked fine. I installed Windows 8 and very often get BSOD for Bad Pool Caller and not being able to write to blah blah, when I googled it briefly it seemed to be a problem with RAM and a lot of people were getting it with Windows 8 (I don't have the exact error code at hand). I also upgraded to an SSD so it could be that.
My Windows 8 is up to date and all drivers are fine. I installed Windows 8 from a USB booter that I made and now my laptop doesn't boot from the same USB with Windows 8.1 on it even when I go to BIOS and boot from USB it just boots from the SSD as normal. So I load Windows 8.1 ISO up from either USB or Desktop where I have copies, but in the key and go to install Windows 8.1 (I have tried both overwrite and save no files and keep my files) and it gets to 100%, reboots, crashes with BSOD and then doesn't install Windows 8.1. I sent my friend the error log and he sent this back:

BugCheck C2, {7, 11c1, 83414, fffff88000e7dec0}

GetPointerFromAddress: unable to read from fffff8036a16f168
GetUlongFromAddress: unable to read from fffff8036a16f1f8
GetUlongFromAddress: unable to read from fffff8036a0aa410
Probably caused by : CI.dll ( CI!I_FreeCatalogData+43 )

Well this doesn't mean anything to me and if I search for CI.dll I get loads of results, some of which are in System 32 so I can't just delete them. I have no idea what to do and I want to fresh format this laptop so any help would be really appreciated.

I also upgraded the BIOs a while back and it's the newest as far as I know, just going through and making sure all devices are on the newest drivers too but I am sure they are.

Sorry for the delay in responding. There just aren't that many people who do BSOD analysis, so at times we get a bit overwhelmed!

Repeated "bumping" of the topic (by adding another post) actually delays our response - as it's moved up in the list (and we generally work on the oldest first).

First off, CI.dll is a Windows component and is not likely to be the actual cause here (long explanation - but Windows drivers are least likely to cause BSOD's). So we have to look for other, more likely drivers (3rd party drivers) or even hardware problems

As this is a memory error, start by running this memory test: Memory Diagnostics

All my crashes happened after successful installations of Windows 8.1 x64. On BOTH my high end recent i7 computers.

One is GTX 780 and they have lots or ram and things like SSD (Samsung Pro); all are updated on everything (even the Z87 Sabertooth motherboard bios and everything else).
