Hey,

Getting the crashes of POWER_DRIVER_STATE_FAILURE every time I try to restart or after shut down. There is information about my system. (attached)

Could anyone take a look and tell me where is the problem, really annoying.

Thanks in advance

Sorry for the delay in responding. There just aren't that many people who do BSOD analysis, so at times we get a bit overwhelmed!

If you're overclocking, please stop the overclock while we're troubleshooting. Feel free to resume the overclock once the system has been stabilized.
Processor may be overclocked!

The CHDRT64.sys driver showed up in the only different memory dump. I'd suspect that there are problems with this driver and that it must be updated to a Win8.1 compatible version. It is a part of your Conexant High Definition SmartAudio device.
If unable to obtain an updated, Win8.1 compatible driver - please remove the software for the device and then physically remove the device from your system in order to test it. If the device is built into your motherboard, then remove the software and disable the device in your UEFI. You can reinstall it after testing (if you'd like).

Please also update your Intel storage (Rapid Storage Technology (RST)) controller drivers to the latest, Win8.1 compatible version. If there isn't a more recent, compatible version on the Lenovo website, then you'll have to get it from http://downloadcenter.intel.com

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Please note the drivers below that date from before the release of Windows 8.1 (26 Oct 2013) - check to see that each and every one is compatible w/Windows 8.1 (at the manufacturer's website). If not, you must either remove the device and it's software - or locate a Windows 8.1 compatible update on the web.

This computer is refurbished and I have been having it for 2 month. I am not sure how it could be overclocked, maybe it had overclocked when it was refurbished... I'd appreciate your help to stop it. How do i can stop that?

I just removed/uninstalled Rapid Storage Technology and Conexant High Definition. Then ran a new test, attached below, is there any difference? and still not sure about the overclocking, because I haven't done that.

I would suggest posting over in the Performance and Maintenance forums for suggestions about removing the overclock: Performance & Maintenance - Windows 8 Forums This is probably the most important step to help you fix this problem with your system.

Try these Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=23201&lang=eng
If they won't install, then try these: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=23198&lang=eng

Also, to update the Intel Management Engine software - try the first 2 packages on this page: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&keyword=management engine (both are dated 25 Oct 2013).

The audio driver is still a problem. Here's a link to a driver that's supposed to be Win8.1 compatible: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...=TDLXijzoDH2Zh5YEEki0HQ&bvm=bv.56988011,d.cWc
I can't access this right now (I think the Lenovo Support site is down), but this should be the driver that you need.

Arg4: ffffe000008bbc21, Reserved
The reference count of an object is illegal for the current state of the object.
Each time a driver uses a pointer to an object the driver calls a kernel routine
to increment the reference count of the object. When the driver is done with the
pointer the driver calls another kernel routine to decrement the reference count.
Drivers must match calls to the increment and decrement routines. This bugcheck
can occur because an object's reference count goes to zero while there are still
open handles to the object, in which case the fourth parameter indicates the number
of opened handles. It may also occur when the object?s reference count drops below zero
whether or not there are open handles to the object, and in that case the fourth parameter
contains the actual value of the pointer references count.

The guy from Performance thread said that overclocking isn't a issue for my computer, it is capable of that.
Next, I have upgraded drivers as I was told. Please, check a new dump files with updated drivers. Thanks.

There is no new memory dump in the uploaded reports.
Please ensure that your system is set to capture minidumps: Set MiniDumpMore info on dump file options here: Overview of memory dump file options for Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008 R2

Thanks for posting over in the Performance section - I learned that the i5 and i7 have the ability to be automatically overclocked and that they have an approved limit to the overclock.

The WER section of MSINFO32 captured the record of the crash, and it was essentially the same as the other memory dumps.

All that being said, have you done this?:
Try these Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...23201&lang=eng
If they won't install, then try these: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...23198&lang=eng

Also, to update the Intel Management Engine software - try the first 2 packages on this page: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Sea...ement%20engine (both are dated 25 Oct 2013).

I can't access this right now (I think the Lenovo Support site is down), but this should be the driver that you need.

If you have, and are still getting BSOD's - please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

You line and learn!

Maybe there is no dumb because I have upgraded those three drivers, which you referred above, but anyway it did not solve my problem, after every sleep windows crashes again.

But what I have learnt, before posting my problem here I had been reading about BSOD on the internet a bit and I got impression (according others, not sure about reliability) that the most common cause of BSOD is Intel Rapid Storage Technology. As a result, I just un-installed/removed it, and guess what - I can get back from sleep mode without any issue. Not sure what the role plays Audio driver, but after removing Intel rapid storage technology the problem gone. I know this is not solution because I should be working with all drivers, they are developed for reason.

Now, I am working on my study papers and I am afraid to loose them, therefore I will run Driver Verifier in the end of January, after examination session. I hope the device won't die till then.

Intel RST drivers have caused problems.
By uninstalling the Intel RST you've effectively rolled the drivers back. Windows contains a version of these drivers and that was installed when you uninstalled the Intel RST. Without the RST drivers you wouldn't be able to access your drives.

Recent changes to the Intel RST packages have made them difficult to work with - and I don't know the exact changes that were made. One change that alarmed me was a recommendation to not uninstall the RST before installing a newer version. This seems to say to me that something was missing in the newer versions. Then, also, we face the dilemma of compatibility - which version is compatible w/Win8.1 and which isn't.

In short, if you're not having BSOD's - stay with what you have.
Keep up to date with Windows Update and see if it remains stable for you.

Good luck! We'll be here when you post back after exams (I get notified by email when someone replies to this topic).
