I just got the Lenovo Z710 laptop with I7-4700, 8gb, 1TB, Intel HD Graphics 4600 and Nvidia GEForce 745 graphics card. We had only loaded CCleaner, Auslogics Disk Defrag, AVG anti-virus & World of Warcraft (WoW) gaming. As soon as my son logged onto WoW, he got a black screen & then the BSOD. I am able to get back in & told my son to not go back into WoW. Got all the windows updates & had them installed. Also downloaded ThinkVantage from Lenovo website to see if there are any updates to laptop but there weren't any. Attached are the dump files. Can someone pls interpret what is wrong already?!? Pls explain in layman's terms as I am not tech savvy. Thanks!

Hi

Crash dumps blames "Nvidia Display Driver" as the reason behind the crashes.

Code:
BugCheck 50, {fffff88800a0bff8, 1, fffff88005198a03, 2}

Could not read faulting driver name
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for nvlddmkm.sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for nvlddmkm.sys
Probably caused by : [COLOR=#ff0000][B]nvlddmkm.sys[/B][/COLOR] ( nvlddmkm+d2a03 )

Please uninstall Nvidia driver and components from "Control Panel --> Programs". First uninstall components like Nvidia update , 3D vision , Physx etc and Display driver at last. Once all the Nvidia components are removed, restart the machine and go to the below link to auto detect the latest driver available.

NVIDIA Driver Downloads - Automatically Detect NVIDIA Products

Install the driver and reboot the machine. Now follow instructions from the below link and set Nvidia power management to "Maximum Performance".

Setting "Power management mode" from Adaptive to Maximum Performance

If the issue continues, rerun the tool and upload the new crash dumps.

Thanks for the advice. I did uninstall and re-install from Nvidia website, shut down afterwards, went back in. Logged into WoW again and still got sad blue screen. It said something about Video_TDR_failure. Attaching today's dump files for some assistance/interpretation. Thanks.

I figured it out. I apparently need to tell Nvidia to scan games that are supported by the graphics card and then optimize the game before launching the game. Being that none of my other laptops/desktops have Nvidia cards, I didn't realize this was protocol. Now World of Warcraft works and no more blue screen. Thanks.

I had the same laptop and same problem, i will try your solution, but could give some more details how are you configuring the games? I suppose you are using the nvidia control panel for that purpose.

I actually got more BSODs 24 hours later after my son tried to play WoW again. I couldn't and didn't want to spend any more time on trying to figure out what was wrong with the laptop. I ended up returning back to the store so I could get my $ before the end of the 14 day return policy. Sorry I can't be much of help.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I ended up returning the Lenovo laptop. I ended getting my son a Dell XPS 8700 i7-4770, Nvidia geforce gtx 645 desktop during Black Friday. Haven't had any WoW problems. Good luck if you can figure out what is the issue with WoW and the Lenovo laptop....
