Hello.

I'm running Windows 8 Pro. I've had issues with uTorrent a lot lately. When I did a fresh install of the OS, I used Avast + ZoneAlarm. This caused my system to crash very frequently while both Avast and uTorrent were running. I removed ZoneAlarm and the crashes were gone.

Yesterday, this started to happen with only Avast and uTorrent running. So I switched to BitDefender and the crashes were gone again... for a while. Now it has begun to start crashing with BitDefender as well.

I'm not sure what's wrong here. Any help? Dumps attached as per the instruction thread.

Hi

Please follow the below steps.

1. Update Realtek LAN driver.

First download an save Win8 and Win8.1 Auto Installation Program version 8.020 from the below link.

Realtek

Disconnect the internet and then uninstall "Realtek Ethernet driver" from "Control Panel --> Programs" or via device manager.Reboot the system when completed. Now install the latest version we downloaded.

2. Uninstall SPTD.

SPTD is came with a number of virtual CD programs like "Daemon tools" and it is known to cause BSOD in "Windows 7" and "Windows 8". Windows 8 doesn't require a third party driver to mount ISO images. First uninstall "Daemon Tools" from the system. Then download and run SPTD removal tool from the below link.

http://www.duplexsecure.com/download/SPTDinst-v184-x64.exe

Press the "Uninstall" button to remove SPTD.

Here is a guide on how to mount ISO images in "Windows 8" : How to mount an ISO image in Windows 8

3. Uninstall "Networx".

Code:
networx.sys Thu Sep 12 18:55:13 2013 (5231C0B9)NetWorx
[url=http://www.carrona.org/drivers/driver.php?id=networx.sys]http://www.carrona.org/drivers/driver.php?id=[B][COLOR=BLUE]networx.sys[/COLOR][/B][/url]

There is a well known issue exists with "Networx" and torrents which may cause the exact type of blue screens you are experiencing. Please uninstall "Networx" completely from the system.

I have performed all three steps. Thanks a lot for providing me with the direct links, as well. I will post back again in a couple of days (or before) on how things go from here.

Also, is there any other bandwidth meter that you would recommend instead of Networx? I have a dodgy connection and its important for me to know when a video/audio I'm streaming has actually dropped, or if it's just buffering.

Hi

There is a way to use "Networx" with "Winpcap" driver which is said to be non problematic. But before doing that we should confirm the BSOD issue is gone for good. Please wait a couple of days and let me know how the system works.

Hello, again.

I have not experienced any crashes the past two nights while uTorrent was running, nor anytime in the day. The problem seems to be fixed. :)

Thanks a lot for your help. I will try and look for a different bandwidth meter, perhaps, or try running Networx with Winpcap driver.

Hi

To use the "WinPcap" driver, please follow instructions from the below link.

NetWorx Help : can't run GeForce Experience

If still no joy and you need to exclude local traffic, it's possible to use a third party driver:

  1. Backup your usage and uninstall NetWorx.
  2. Download and install WinPCap.
  3. Install latest NetWorx again leaving the "LAN Traffic Filtering Driver" option unticked
  4. When NetWorx starts, you should be able to choose one of your adapters prefixed with "Ignore LAN Traffic" from the drop-down list in the NetWorx settings.

In this case NetWorx will be using the WinPCap driver, rather its own custom driver and you shouldn't have any issues again.

You can mark this thread as solved now.
